Yes, another 1911 thread.

I'm looking at the Springfield Loaded. The kimber eclipse is very cool but a bit pricey for me. Any other suggestions? I want stainless-I just like silver guns I guess. I would rather stay under 1k or very close. Reliable is obviously a plus :)

I have the Springfield loaded in ss, it is nice looking but the worst shooting 1911 I own. I own 4 total and the Springfield is the least accurate handgun I own.

I Love the Kimber Eclipse! Beautiful piece of work!

I can say for the Money and well under $1k, Taurus makes a great 1911 (No matter what crap you hear) I have the blued version of the one below with the BHW walnut grips...$625 out the door! I am very pleased with it and spend a lot of range time with a Springfield owner. Tit for tat .... Both great guns, but in there own words

"I like the extras on the Taurus" and they bought one also!

My slide stop did break on mine, but Taurus had the replacement in a couple days free of charge. It is still in package because I ordered some aftermarket slide stops, and come to enjoy the Swenson extended very much form Midway.

Gunbroker list one for $676.98 + 22.00 shipping. And then you would have your FFl fee at your local gun shop. Usually $15-$20. ($718.98) A lot left for Ammo and gear in my book, but you can prob beat the Gunbroker price if you shop around.

Here is mine from last year... You will find this thread informative for sure! http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=590407

Mine started as a Stainless Loaded before i had it tweaked up internally and then refinished.

Too bad they don't offer a Range Officer in SS... I have been waiting for them to do it but no luck yet. One gun i find beautiful although "Cheap" and not Stainless... i think its a good looking firearm... Its the Metro Arms American Classic line..

I have 4 Springfield Loaded models, 1 stainless and 4 parkerized. All of them shoot well and my worst shooting one puts a 2.8" group at 50 yards on a rest and my best who was worked heavily over by Jim Hoag shoots 1.2" at 50 yards. Compared to my STI at 1.3" and my Kimber CDPII at 2.4".

All better than i can do in my hand and not on a rest. Put yours on a rest and then come back with that trash talking.

Nice....NO....Beautiful S&W Kingofthehill!

ANd I was looking at one of the SR Rugers at GS the other day. They seem like they would be...well.... A Ruger! :)

Tomcat- The only one of mine in those pictures is the top pic of the Springfield Loaded SS worked by Jim Hoag.

the others are pulled off the internet. I do have an American Classic 4" Commander with the blue'd finish and its a great gun. Its only hiccuped a handful a times and that was when it was new. Its had over 3k through it as a carry gun and shows no holster wear on the finish.

Nice price! I was over at Gunbroker pokin around when you put this up here!

Sure better price than GB....They have the laser grip model for same price, but it does not have that pop like the one at GA and your pic.

GB has the bobtail version, but they are $1150 range...dont know if I like the Bobtail :scrutiny:

Might grow on me tho!

Have you ever shot one?

I wasn't a fan until i shot one and then i fell in love. I have wide hands, not necessarily BIG but wide hands and the normal sharper edge 1911 would poke pretty good after a few rounds.

Im slowly adapting to the bobtail version little by little as i acquire 1911's that can be changed. My local smith does it for $175 and im a huge fan now.

Dan Wesson... save your pennies and go $1100ish. you won't regret it.

At one time they were easily under a grand. Now you'd have to go used. I agree that DW is the best looking in it's class, as long as they leave off those front cocking serrations.

IMO The Ruger and SA above are simply beautiful....its got enough of a modern look without going overboard and doesn't have those visually annoying front serrations.
