SFPD Paying to Get Guns Off the Streets

This is a great scam. They are getting their own money back for the guns they bought and paid sales tax on. I bet they have to declare it as income, too.

feedthehogs - yeah, that's called the "California Bootstrap" method of creative fiscal financing. :)

Sven, no that is not sad (that your neighbors will be glad to see you leave). It gives me a warm fuzzy to know that when you and other like you do leave, they'll be left wallowing in the severe financial (gov't) mess they created, without the tax base of freedom-lovers to help clean up the mess. No doubt they'll end up trying to steal money from ME and other taxpayers in other states, by asking for a bailout from the federal gov't. We simply must prevent that by voting for more fiscal conservatives. One good reason to vote Shrub over Dean.

I'm waiting for the day a real arms dealing syndicate raids a gun buyback and the voters find out that their taxdollars ended up providing a violent criminal enterprise with an rather impressive supply of weapons.

Me and my shooting buddies aint much of a syndicate, but when i see all the NICE old guns idiots get willed from some old shooter, it makes me start to wonder......

personaly, i wish we had a buyback here, i'd do the jennings thing!

[blockquote]I think we should pool our money together and sponsor a Gun buyback program. I want an early Serial number 10-22 or maybe a very early Ruger MK-1, my friend is looking to get a 1894 Marlin in 30-30. Think of all the nice people that would be willing to hand over there expensive gun for only $150!!! I think we would have to have the option of refusing all of those Jennings that people might try to turn in. Those things aren't even safe as a paper weight. I think I might be on to something here. What a great way to pick up some nice guns.[/blockquote]
Is there a sub-market-value market for guns if the sellers don't get the satisfaction of knowing the guns will be destroyed by the State?

And, of course, you probably need a FFL to do this, and the BATF might not be too pleased...
