SGVGC THR Shoot in Southern California

Okay, I guess I'd better make a decision about the location PDQ to be fair to everyone. How's this?

If there is a way to get a reasonable guarantee that we will have a private range available at Burro Canyon, we will have the next shoot there. Otherwise, it will be at SGVGC. And I nominate Eisande to investigate this and report back here ;) .

And I would like to add that regardless of the location, I'm looking forward to meeting all the THR members who didn't make it out last time.

50 Shooter Thanks for the heads-up, and enjoy the SHOT show. I'm not gonna be able to make it.

Has anyone ever been to A Place to Shoot? I've been there once, about 2 years ago. They have seperate rifle, pistol, and shotgun ranges, friendly ROs, partionied lanes, and some of their ranges even have steel plates and steel animals set up.

It's probably a bit far for you folks coming from the LA area, but it is a nice range.
This is a bit far for most of the regulars but it is one of the nicer ranges I've been to and the self service trap range set up is superb. If people are willing to carpool or something I'd be willing to go there.

Have never shot at Angeles but would like to try it eventually but as we will be getting our fill of there and Burro when SGVGC most likely closes we should have most the shoots at SGVGC I feel until the end. I never have shot at Burro either.

And Lytle creek is a bit far too but the road has been paved all the way now and a regular car can travel it w/o concern and it might be worth doing a shoot there eventually.

BTW, if you want to avoid the random rapid fire kiddies at Burro Canyon, or the crowds at SGVGC, you need to go earlier. The rapid fire kiddies at Burro tend to now show up until 2 PM or so, and SGVGC get crowded around 11 or 12.

(I live 5 min from SGVGC and fo there wever two weeks or so, and about 20 min from Burro)

Now, I know you have a camera. ;)

Dude, sometime soon, we have to have a CA-legal AR shoot. Me, Beetle, Black Majik, xinul22, iGSR96, etc. That should be some kinda group shot, man. :D

That was taken late last night, before I got a chance to clean off the moly grease from the rifle and my hands, so please excuse the poor quality. I'll take better pictures later today.

And I have a small scratch on the trigger guard ears from when I installed the trigger guard pin. Oops. I guess it's this rifle's first battle damage! Haha

And seriously, the Mega lowers are something wonderful. My RRA lowers look like crap when held next to the Mega! :p

Haha... all I have are plain looking metal receivers. No parts yet :D

I'll be sure to bring my camera and tripod!

If Skunk were around, I'm sure he could take some great shots of us all.

And maybe this time we could get some firearms in to the picture too! I will be more than willing to take the pictures again as I prefer to keep my photo off the internet again!

Beetle already did.

"Earth to Skunk...Earth to Skunk...You're missing the most uber-tactical super mall ninja era in recent CA history. It's gonna make your M1a experiences a distant, faded memory...."

I got my RRA NM A2 built on one of my AMEETEC's (I call it the Rock-TEC) so you can try it out to see if that is something you want or if you want to go in another direction. I put a Turner National Match sling on it yesterday (stole it off one of my Enfields  ) and I can't wait to try shooting it from prone sling-supported :D .

Hmmm. . . me, too! :uhoh:

LOL.... no willpower Ken, I remember you telling me how you were gonna wait to pick up your RRA lowers from Michelle.

And I see you just couldn't wait.

Nice. :D
