Yes, ideally I would just buy two scopes, but the finances won't allow for now and both guns will have the exact same purpose and similar ballistics. I bought a muzzloader a couple months ago, not because I care about muzzleloaders (though that could change), but so I can get into the woods two weeks earlier (deer). Once regular firearms season hits, I'll shelve the muzzleloader in favor of a 12 ga slug gun (Marlin 512).
Though it would be great if I could use the same pair of rings (QD would be PERFECT), the Marlin requires side mount rings, so the scope will have to come out of one set of rings and into another. The fact that I'll have to sight in each time I switch (which will only be once per season) doesn't bother me because I'd be sighting them in at the beginning of each season regardless. I'm more worried about the rings wearing after repeated use...and the finish of the scope wearing where the rings mount around the tube.
Thinking of the Leupold Ultimate Slam. I like the reticle (designed for ML's and slug guns) and the fact that it's made here.
