I have two Sharps original carbines. 50 70 and percussion. I needed to replace one of the lever springs. I used a new one...$22 bucks.
but the lever was weak and did not hold where it was supposed to ...both down and up
I took off a little on each side of the wide part where it goes into the action.on the top sides .using the dremmel with the grinding drum. a pail of water on the side so the spring will NOT get hot. keep dumping...this allowed the center of the spring to go up further and push harder against the lever.
I took off each side where it hit the action, allowing the center to go up further and hold the lever tighter. It worked. the lever snaps down and the block just clears the breach. push it back and it holds tight. against the trigger area.
