Headed into the woods to do some shooting yesterday for the 3rd time in 4 days. Still having a LOT of fun with the .222 conversion, and I just got a new(to me) 92FS I really like though I didn't get the best deal in the world on it.

Anyway, as I was walking back there, it got me to thinking how often I make this little exodus to my dirt pile in the woods compared to other folks. I know a lot of you guys have to pack up and go to a range to shoot :neener: and can't make it everyday.

So my question today is this:

When you go shooting, do you go often (couple times a week) and shoot 50-100 rounds each time, or do you go once a month or less and have to put a hazmat sticker on your vehicle to cover all the ammunition you plan on expending?

Then, there's always the lucky SOB that blows off a few thousand a week without batting an eye. For jealousy purposes, we'll ignore those guys!

See my thread on 1911 vs ammo... I am the guy who cannot afford to shoot at all right now... YET :)

I want to shoot weekly, 100-200 rounds. That would be ideal. Now I just need powder, primers and bullets. I have tons of good brass.

So, I think shooting weekly is my short term goal, and eventually I too (On a limited budget....) plan to be that SOB :neener:

I go to the club a few times a month. Usually go through several hundred rounds each session. Several different calibers and I reload everything except rim fire.

We usually go out every 3-4 weeks - have to drive to the range. Once the bills are paid, I buy up whatever ammo I can find in the local stores, and take my son and a couple of his friends. Usually we make a full day of it.

I to only have to walk "out back" to shoot and my goal this year is a box a month through each handgun (at $20.00 a box that'll be $500.) long guns will be whenever I feel like.

I paid the yearly fee for membership, I am gonna get my $ worth out of it.
I shoot around 400 rds a couple of times a week to keep my sanity from the chaos that surrounds me. I also shoot a 500 blk pack every other trip to keep my cost low.

I usually shoot some/something at least once a week. This may be only my carry pistol 50-100 rounds and/or a rifle 20-50 rounds. I haven't gone to the range and (personally) blasted a ton of ammo in a long time. I have been to the range with friends and family, as sort of a coach, when they blasted tons of ammo.

Personally I used to fire as much ammo as I could afford to each time I went to the range. Usually 200+ rounds. It occurred to me one day recently though that my accuracy wasn't really improving. So now I shoot fewer rounds and concentrate more on technique and my groups are getting smaller.

I voted couple of times a week but that is when the weather is decent unlike what it is at this time of the year up here... I also reload for most of my calibers so I can shoot more that way...

Ive been out after squirrels a few times a month with the .22, so ive done some shooting. I havent shot the .38 in a little while due to no $ for ammo, and im about 80% of the way on being able to reload for it so il be shooting it soon (I actually only have 11 rounds of .38 special to my name, defense ammo included...). The shotgun I haven't had the time or place to touch off in months. I have a little stock of birdshot to use in it, but i cant afford range fee or gas to the range at this point.

50-100 rounds a couple of times a week would be just enough to frustrate me.

I go 2 to 3 times a week and shoot 100 or so of .22lr from my target pistol just for warm up and a minimum of 200 rounds from my competition pistol. I reload .45acp and 9mm.

I've found that 25yd free-style and 50 yd bench slow fire with my .22LR target pistol has really helped me to improve my accuracy in IPSC competition. With this amount of practice, I'm starting to call my shots.

I've been shooting in the cold too. I keep a hand warmer in my pocket, and I carry a small propane heater with me. With it set up on the table next to me, I can make it through the whole session without my hands getting cold. As far as rain, this is western Washington, I've just learned to deal with it.

Because I put a lot of time into training and competition earlier on, now my range trips are more maintenance oriented, keeping my skills up. Eventually I'll want to do more competition again. Range about once every month or so, a box of ammo through each gun.

I try to go to the range once a week. I usually only shoot about 50 rounds out of my rifles and maybe another 50 out of my handgun if it gets to go.

once of twice every two weeks I will take out at least the AR15, the Beretta 9mm, and my cc piece (.380) and run at least a box of ammo through each one.

I go once a week and shoot about 150 rounds. I concentrate on different things with each range visit, but I always include close, quick defensive drills and precision firing at long distance (at least long for me), no matter what else I'm up to.

I rarely shoot more than two guns at each outing, and do so once a week on average. I shoot to hone my skill and test/ensure reliability CCWs or new acquisitions, so I rarely go through more than 50-75 rounds per outing. Luckily, I live in the sticks and work very close to the FOP range, so where to shoot is not much of an issue.

I am a part time plumber and therefor I have free lead and tin solder.:D
I use the plumbers lead pot and cast my own bullets.:D
I reload lots.:D
I am still using the primers that have the price tag of $9.95 on the 1K box.:D
I am using propellant that I bought 7 yrs ago.:D
I shoot as much and as often as I want.:D:D:D:D:D:D
Working is cutting into my reloading time.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I used to shoot weekly, but $ & not being able to find ammo have turned that into a pipe dream the past several months.

I stick to shooting a lot of 22LR 2 to 4 times a month. I shoot 9mm, .45, 5.56, and 7.62 NATO as much as I can afford to. Thank God for cheap 22LR! It's the only way I can afford to make the range a hobby.

I generally go twice a week or so (Wed. and Sun.), I usually fire off a few hundred .22LR, some on the handgun range, some on the rifle range, as well as a few (less than 100, typically 50 or so) centerfire rounds (usually my .45ACP handloads) as well as the very occasional shotgunning session

I have more fun with my little .22's than most of my other bigger guns combined, plus, .22 is still relatively inexpensive, my .45 reloads are almost as inexpensive (My current favorite recipe is 5.2Gr W231 under a 200Gr LSWC)
