This is all very promising. I just found some AR Plus to use with a new batch of RMR 69 grain HPBT bullets. I’ll keep an eye out for some Heavy Pistol as a substitute/supplement to my supply of 2400.

The little bit of testing I've done with AR Plus has been encouraging, found the clone to my AA2230/62fmj load very quickly, did very well on velocity with 75gr bthps. When it warms up I'm going push it with 62gr's and see how much velocity I can get. Seems to burn clean and very low muzzle flash as well. I'm liking it!

Have you tried the same load in different rifles? If I develop a load in Rifle A, it typically shoots well in Rifle B. However, the reverse is not true. I have a very good load in B that blows up to 3+ MOA in Rifle A. In any case, I have a full box of all matching components to try to tune things properly. I was also just loading some rounds with H335 and remembered why I like it so much using a powder measure. Hopefully the AR Plus will run the same.

Yes, I have shot the clone of my AA2230/62fmj load in 3 different rifles, and they all seem to like it. I am lucky so far as these rifles usually like the same loads. I'm actually really impressed with the velocity of AR Plus does in the shorter barrels. It has been great in the powder measure. So far I really like it, curious to see how much it changes when it warms up outside.

Sorry for the delay in responding, its bike week down here and I have been running around a lot. I use small regular pistol primers. CCI.

No problem! thanks for the reply, I asked because I have a working theory from my own testing that Heavy Pistol works best with non magnum primers

The data on the website says it's formulated for easy ignition and magnum not required.

Yea when I first got some it read that as well. I tested both standard and magnum to check it out and was surprised when the standard seem to show better results. Mind you that was maybe 50rds each primer type only, you may recall I didn't do much more testing with it because I only loaded to 12.1gr max (per website interactive manual) and apparently that's no where near max and the velocities were 1300 fps & under with 158gr out of a 20" rifle.

I'm still going to get around to testing more but going up near the 13.1gr that's listed on the bottle for 158gr JHPs

Velocity was better than expected. I only got through the ladder test and an initial group.
My reloading stuff is currently in storage until my farm sells.

Would you care to share what you discovered when you shot your ladder? Velocity? Accuracy?

TY, Rod.

Man, I'd love a "Shooter's World/Lovex to Accurate" mapping table. The only one I know is the Accurate 5744 = Buffalo Rifle equivalency. I'd definitely want to verify the equivalencies by carefully loading with Accurate data starting at the low end, but have been nothing but impressed with the Shooter's World powders I've used.
Ask and ye shall receive.

I am loading Zero 158 JHP in 357 right now with Heavy Pistol, also 13.1 grains. Great load. About 1340 fps out of my Coonan 1911, and very nearly the same out of my Blackhawk. 1150 out of a 3inch M66. Very accurate, very clean.

Which primer, mag or standard.

I've done that load with both CCI SP, CCI SP Magnum, and Federal SP Magnum. I get no statistically significant velocity difference, but I do get a slightly better SD with the CCI SP Magnum, and the Federal SP Magnum. For a while CCI SP Magnum primers were easier to get, so I'm pretty flush on those right now, so all my 357 loads are getting those so I can save my standard SP for 38 and 9mm, where there are some pistols that have a hard time punching the harder cups.

Reloading Data by LOVEX® | Shooters World (shootersworldpowder.com)

EVERYTHING is available on the home page for Shooter's World Powder including the PDF file for loading data. For SC and GA reloaders, Shooter's Indoor Range in Augusta, GA has the powder and once-fired brass for sale at excellent prices. This is where I buy my reloading supplies. Primers are available. There is no business connection between Shooter's Range and Shooter's Powder.

I was in the middle of 77 SMK load that was accurate and was faster than any other load I have when I moved cross country. I haven't been able to locate the notepad that has my test results though.
It's definitely a shortlist powder for 5.56.

Funny item of note from this weekend. My shooting buddy is down to his last couple of pounds of varget, which he uses for his .308 w/ the ELD bullet. I gave him a lb of Shooter's World Precision Rifle to try. Now, Precision World is a completely different powder than Varget, no relationship at all, past or present. I gave him a copy of the Lovex .308 load data, and the Shooter's World load data, and he saw that it overlapped his varget load data. So he rolled a few rounds with his Varget data...and they shot to almost the same POA as his varget load, but the group was was slightly better. He's all excited now, lol. Says he's going to run some more tests with multiple guns, and get some chrony data, but he may be another SW convert.

I was excited to find this powder until Avery wanted 50 a pound. That's a hard pass. One of the biggest selling points was price. The local scam guns and ammo has varget for 53 a pound.

I've been liking AR Plus so much in my 62gr loads that I jumped on buying an 8lb jug when I had the chance. In my "non scientific" temp testing it was a little less temp sensitive than TAC, which is pretty darn good for a ball powder! It did do quite well with 75gr(great accuracy, higher MV than expected), but Tactical Rifle did do better velocity wise, with the same accuracy. Scheels has some 1lbers of precision on hand and I'm curious to try it, but not curious enough to buy a lb yet....

SW Precision has quickly become the "poor mans" Varget among the younger precision shooters. Too bad all the vendors found out and upped their prices. These days it's priced around the same if not more than Varget.

I've never used either but I do hear that folks find very similar performance.

The uptick seems to be on the Explosia side of the house, because my current OEM cost is ~ 32.00 a lb with shipping and hazmat, it was 19.00 a lb in 2018. S062-02 has always been one of their most expensive powders, and the rise in price is pretty much in line with all the Explosia produced powders (Lovex, and the other branded names they use in Europe). That is a couple bucks cheaper than the cheapest I can get Varget......when I can get it at all. Still a good value, since the last jug of Varget I saw on a LGS shelf was 6 months ago, and it was 55.00.

Could be supply side costs for all I know. I didn't follow the pricing too closely since I never used either but I do remember even in the last year Precision being substantially cheaper than Varget even when there was no Varget to be had (or 1lbers in and out of stock in a day) but now they seem to be the same.

I think the last 8 lb jug of Precision I saw available was around $360 pre-tax/haz & ship.

My guess being that when the word got out that it is as good as Varget the increased demand brought it in line with what Hodgdon is selling Varget for.
