Shooting .22lr out of .22 magnum?

I'm over here at Thanksgiving at my girlfriend's. I was looking at a rifle her brother had out and it's a Marlin .22 magnum bolt action. I've seen a few empty boxes of .22lr out in the garage. What would be the issues on shooting .22lr out of it? He still has all his fingers and both eyes so it hasn't blown up yet.

LR brass will bulge and maybe split in a WMR chamber. I doubt his fingers are at risk but his eyes are. Or maybe he has another gun.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Twenty-two brass will split, and will not be accurate in a .22 Magnum.

I'd just get another rifle in .22 LR -- in the end, it will be cheaper.
