How does the shooting feel compare between a G19 and a G26?

I've shot a G19 before - can I expect the same shooting feel with a G26? I thought I had read something about the Glock sub models having an extra recoil spring, so if that's the case, I would think they might feel the same even though the G26 is smaller.

I own and shoot both regularly. I find the 26 to have a little bit more felt recoil especially with self defense loads. I think the perceived difference is largely due to the 19 having grip area to get a better hold on. The 26 tends to twist a bit in my grip and I have not tried the Pearce grip extensions. Neither have a recoil that is distracting or uncomfortable to me. I did shoot a 27 and had more pronounced issues with twist and grip retention from the recoil.

the lighter weight and shorter grip of the 26 translates into a little more muzzle flip, but its still not bad. In my honest opinion, I could sell both my G26 and G34, and be perfectly happy with a G19 for both carry and range/game use...

I own a 19 and get to shoot the 26. IMHO, the mid size Glocks are the way to go for all around use ;)

The profile along the rear of the grip is slightly different. The 26 flares out sooner. This may or may not suit you. You can get the 26 grip length to be comparable to the 19 by adding a Pearce grip adapter/baseplate to the magazine. It might be worth comparing both in person at a gun shop.

The 19 is a little more comfortable to shoot, but for some reason the 26 is a little more accurate for me.

I owned them both at one time and feel
that the 26 had a bit more felt rcoil
compared to the 19.I did have problems
with +P's in the 26 with the pistol
wanting to shift around in my grip.

It is weird ,I find the 19 feels beter in my hand but the 26 is more accurate at 7 yds. The 26 always feels awkward till I start shooting then it feels fine.

The hump in the backstrap of the G26 fits into my hand better than the G19 and is very comfortable for me to shoot, I just curl my little finger under the mag. Recoil is about the same ... actually, I "notice" the barrel rise more with the longer barrels. It will depend on how it fits YOUR hand. I can shoot the G19 just as well, but the 26 and even the 17 feel better in my hands.

As always YMMV..:)

I don't own either, but have rented both. I could shoot the 19 very well, but had problems with the 26. For me, the 26 was uncomfortable to shoot so I couldn't hit as well with it. If I were to buy one it would be the 19. I don't think that it would be all that much harder to conceal and it is a lot easier for me to shoot.

I love both of them. But I sold my G26 becuase I wear IWB where a G19 is just as easily concealed.....The G19 is an easy, accurate, fast shooting and highly concealable weapon.

I have 2 Glock 26s and a Glock 19...G26 recoil is a little more noticable with +P ammo..G26 has the edge for CC but the G19 is easy to CC..If I need to go to a smaller/lighter handgun than the G26 for CC - I carry a S&W 642...G19 has the accuracy edge and I like the G19 grip/feel over the G26...All are very reliable. If I could only have one Glock - it would be the G19...
