Anybody have any shooting goals for 2023?

For myself, for years now I've been lacking shooting with my weak hand, so I have been and intend to shoot lefty, one handed and drawing from my strong side. Not only that but to practice reloads as if my dominant hand is out of commission. I've never been good shooting lefty but I've gotten better with practice and I sort of think using tools at work left handed along with using my EDC knife and flipping balisong knives lefty has made me somewhat closer to the realm of "ambidextrous". I don't know if I'll go so far as installing ambi mag releases on all my carry guns but in the meantime I mean to practice anyhow.

The other thing I would like to do is attend a couple, hopefully a few, SIG Academy classes for pistol, Carbine and shotgun.

Lastly, by the end of fall I would like to get a 50 straight patch from my trap club with my 870 TB and/or 26 straight doubles, I'll be happy with either of those.

I have a few other goals but those will keep me busy. What are your shooting/skill goals for this year?

I have a few, I have been working on competency & accuracy with my handguns at distance, 25 yards 1/2 size silhouette, with the guns I do/would carry which includes 1911s, striker fired, full size and compacts. I took some Sig classes years ago and they were worth it to me; Patrol Rifle Instructor-1 week advertised as 1,000 rounds and I shot about 1,500 and their shotgun instructor class, 3 days. These two were part of a trio of classes that included pistol that I did not take. They were post Sandy Hook and the focus was LEO competency and employment of long guns for active shooter. They were very good and included room clearing, back-up weapon use (pistol), single and weak hand manipulation and shooting. I am/was not a LEO. There was a SF guy in the class and it struck me how he viewed weapons as tools. He shot range guns vice his own. When I asked him why, he said he wanted to be able to pick up any gun and use it if needed which is why I practice with the different guns I have. Sig has since changed classes and the two I took are no longer offered but they have plenty of others. So from my experience with Sig years ago, I would recommend them.
My other goal is some off-hand and supported rifle shooting.
I've done a lot of IDPA/3-gun in years past but not much dedicated to accuracy.
Goals are good and keep us motivate and moving forward or if you're old like me goals keep you from losing as much of what you have.
Good luck!

Continued "Real world" comparative 22LR ammunition testing at 50/100 yards.

After shooting 30,000+ rounds of various 22LR brands/weights/lots of ammunition through several 10/22 and new Take Down (Along with ARs with CMMG conversion bolts, GSG 1911 and Advantage Arms Glock 22 slide kit) over several years, "real world" challenge commenced shooting 10,000+ rounds of 25+ brands/weights/lots shot from new 10/22 Collector #3 and T/CR22 capturing every 5/10 shot groups at 50/100 yards through break-in over several thousand rounds and accurizing modification/parts upgrade. And myth busting was done that newly purchased lots of various brand ammunition to include "cheap loose bulk" ammunition were 99.7% reliable as to having no duds with verification from pulling bullets from dud rounds that priming compound moved away from rim likely from rough transportation/handling - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ud-why-dud-thread.893062/page-2#post-12273202

One of many shooting goals for 2023 is testing new lots of 22LR, retesting old lots of 22LR along with additional 10+ brands/weights/lots of ammunition at 50/100 yards using additional scopes to include Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24x50mm/Athlon BTR Gen2 10-40x56mm compared to Burris FF E1 6.5-20x50mm/Vortex Crossfire II 6-24x50mm/Viridian Serac 6-24x50mm.

My shooting goals include.
Shoot a lower score on the the golf course. Haven't played much the past ten years. Oops wrong sport

Get my wife out shooting!!!!!!
Spend time on the range with friends

To shoot more! I have been planning on joining a local club (semi-local) but you have to attend one of their local meetings with your sponsor and introduce yourself. Me and my buddy have had conflicts getting together on meeting night. But we will.

I left a few things out:
Find some LRP's so I can load for my 45/70
Building a house this spring and should be moved in by August and once settled in I wan't to construct a shooting lane that won't be but a few steps from my porch

My only goal at the beginning of the year (beyond shooting more) was to acquire a target-quality .22 rifle, which I accomplished with the purchase of a Bergara B14R. As I've recounted elsewhere, it had to go back to Bergara because the barrel threads were damaged, which I didn't discover until I tried to remove the thread protector. But it's back and I've been getting acquainted with what it can do.

As I've been bitten by the 7mm PRC bug, my second goal is to complete a Remage build. I have everything in hand except the barrel. Still waiting on McGowen for that.

There's a 1,200 yard range about an hour from me; planning to get there and try a couple of my rifles out at distance.

Oh, and shoot more. :)

I want to get thoroughly confident and proficient with my new to me .45/70. Handi-Rifle.
Our newly adopted "straight wall cartridge " makes it legal for deer season.
I want to be good out to .....300yds? I know it's not a long range cartridge.....but hey! It's a goal!
If I can find my target from about 1970 I’ll try to upload a picture. 45-70, duplex load, 457124, aperture sights, 200 yards. Five in under 5”. Up 24” from 100 yard zero. Rolling block I built with Numrich barrel.
300 drop is even worse. I’m going to have all three of my single shots dialed in for 100. 140 is the longest clear shot on my property.

To get more proficient and practiced with the new CVA single shot in 444 Marlin that I picked up in February. Already got some great handloads and that thing is a definite straight shooter... IMG_8097.JPG ... The 444 is a straight wall cartridge but there's no such limitation in the rifle areas I hunt, it's pretty wooded so my usual rifle hunting spots don't require something that can reach way out there. Plus; the 444 is a proven thumper on whitetails without stepping up to .45-70 power ( & recoil) levels. Weighs 8 lbs. without a scope, and has a recoil pad and muzzle brake. No recoil complaints at all. A 265 gr. Hornady FTX is chronographing an average 2080 FPS and zeroed about an inch high at 100 yds.. I discovered that load will drop a full 10 inches at 200 yards with that zero. Not concerned about that because I'm lucky to even see a deer 100 yards away where I plan to use this gun. Looking forward to getting some serious range time in with this before the fall, even though I'd feel confident with it today if the season were open.

Yes, I think I will zero at 100yds also. I would like to be proficient at 200.
I am planning to make a 20" gong for my waterway that is 300yds from my bench. Hopefully the Vortex Straightwall BDC on my rifle will have enough room at the bottom for 300.lol

My goal has been to get to the range regularly again. I started a month or so ago, been going every week. So far, I've been very consistent, and have taken all but one of my handguns to the range.

Still trying to figure out how to get a long gun to the range in my Miata.

I would have to figure out how to get my 6'3" 240# body into a Miata first
Congratulations on your goal weather does come into play, but I am getting to the range more myself.
