i went shooting with my smith model 29 classic hunter with 8 3/8 barrel and my Ruger super redhawk.

The Smith spent 3 months several months ago with the factory to fix a cylinder binding issue. it's been to the range a couple of times since then and so far no recurrence. I shot some gongs(10 inch gongs and 1 6 inch gong)at 25 yrds with my new target set up using hooks and brackets from ebay with 3/4 inch EMT. i also bought some collars from amazon to keep the hangers from sliding around. except for the occasional gong flying off, especially the 6 inch gong, the set up handled the 44 mag well. i was shooting 240 gr hardcast with 10.5 unique so more of midrange loads but although the cross member was flexing it still held. The gongs I was using were 3/8 inch for the 10 inch and 1/2 inch for the 6 inch. It would be less flexy with thinner plates.

i love how the gongs move with 44 mag.

i was making a video comparing my model 29 to my super redhawk so the video is long but the shooting is at 14:00 thereabouts. i was going to add using choreboy to clean any leading but it's long enough as it is.
