My dad is getting older and can no longer shoot his rifles. He can't lift his left arm up enough to operate the trigger. A shoulder worn out from a lifetime of use. Otherwise at 82 he is in excellent shape. Our regular sitting down rest on our own private range isn't cutting it as well. I wanted to know if anyone has ever made or know of a stand that can be used standing up?

Was thinking of drilling four holes in the ground (when the ground unfreezes) and placing fours by fours that are about eight foot long and putting all but five in the ground with some cement. And then bolt the rest together. Long enough for some rests to sit on top plus equipment. Wide enough for two shooters. Something on the right to catch brass. With this my dad would be able to shoot rifles again. Had to be sturdy enough that it doesn't move too much.

Any idea? Spring is almost here. Thanks.

Build a wall using 3/4 " plywood. Look at some of the barricade designs used in 3 gun competition. You could make it in such a way that it could be disassembled. Or you cold use a stoney point tripod, or even modify a heavy duty camera tripod by adding a wood shelf to the top of it and bungee a small sandbag to it. I have used setups like this to fire some heavyweight sniper rifles from in urban areas,

I have shot a lot from stand up benches. Most were about 3 x 8 so 2 or 3 shooters could use them at the same time.
