I had formal training in my LE career on Emergency and Evasive driving. I would not try to aim and shoot a handgun out the window at speed when the target was slightly behind me. I'm not sure that a formula one driver could pull that off. I'm not assuming he's a bad driver, but it's not unreasonable to assume that he's not up to that task. I'm not sure who would be.

Watch the video I linked to above. It's from the shooter's YT page. It appears that after the road rager passed him, he sped up significantly and tried to come along side the rager. This is the point that the rager points a gun at shooter. He could have just let the rager go, but no; he sped up and went after him. Shooter has no claim to self-defense in my book.
He won't be able to answer any questions because he'll be deaf!
That tells much more of the story! Thank you. Yes Mr windshield shooter is a dumb a** and could have changed several things to avoid the whole situation.

Unbelievable! I'll be stunned if he doesn't see charges from this. I think he's just trying to get his story out in front of the investigation.

There actually is a right way to shoot through your own windshield. He did NOT do this the right way. Even doing this the "right" way, it should be a LAST resort. There were much better options available for this now partially deaf guy.

Just glad Ohio is off the hook for this one. Around here it's less the speedy, aggressive drivers and more the ones cruising below the speed limit in the left lane.
I had an instance where a friend shot a 12 gauge from inside a vehicle with the muzzle pointed out his window. It was several days before my ears stopped ringing. I don't EVER want to be inside a vehicle while a gun is discharged again and I'd have to be legitimately afraid for my life...not just pissed off over someone's driving.
Serious as it is, ear damage is the least important reason to abide by that standard.

Until this country becomes completely 3rd world theres absolutely ZERO scenario in which I'm shooting a firearm through a windshield from a vehicle I'm in.
Even in a SHTF situation thats a last ditch option.
I saw the vid presented by the OP before it was posted here and it looks to me like he watched too many LEO YT vids.
