Yep, I went and broke my right index finger!
Anybody ever shoot an auto loader (TTC to be specific) pulling the trigger with the ring finger?
I have not tried it yet and I am a bit worried about losing control of the gun or getting the web of my hand caught in the slide.

Anybody shoot a TTC lefty?
I figure if I learn to shoot it either handicapped or lefty it can only be a good thing :D

Not the ring finger but rather using the middle might be an alternative if you had to, but it'd much better to learn to shoot left handed.

It ought to have been part of your training already...

D'oh no coffee this morning! I mean middle finger it just came out ring finger :D

It's a good time to learn to shoot left handed.
IMO everyone should be competent shooting one hand weak hand.

I try to start new shooters shooting weak hand within the first few days they begin shooting.

Exactly. You're forced to do it, so it will be far easier than when you have the option of switching back to normal.

I learned to shoot rifles left handed when I had an eye injury and had to wear an eye patch on my right eye.

I discovered that I shoot more accurately left handed. Rapid fire is a different story. If I only get one shot, I'll take it left handed now. My astigmatism is slightly less dramatic in my left eye, I suspect that has much to do with it.

Same with me. I'm about as accurate left handed but slower than right handed.

Because of age (72) my right hand will shake sometimes. At those times I shoot left handed. For some reason seldom will my left hand shake.

I'm steadier left handed, also. I assumed it was due to my right forearm being slightly stronger.

I know my astigmatism has a slightly detrimental effect. When I use an eotech, the reticle does not appear in my vision as it should. I use both eyes and look past the sight properly, but the reticle "isn't fuzzy" when I shoot left handed. I experimented and tried looking through it with one eye. I can't see the NESW hash marks at all with my right eye due to extreme fuzziness. With my left eye, it looks perfect. Using both eyes, it is somewhere in the fuzzy middle. I hate to do it, but I'll put it up for sale here soon since I can't be precise with it at all...precise being smaller than basketball sized groups at 100 yards. I shoot well with irons. I guess I'll sell my 16" upper, too. If I can't have my eotech

OK I am going to try shooting lefty today.
How do you Southpaws handle the ejected shells? I would guess they are a distraction if nothing else. I figure my bolt action rifles would not be an issue, but the TTC and the 10/22 throw brass everywhere

Also, a good time to practice drawing from your right-handed holster with your left hand.

Wear your eye protection!

I'm careful about where I place my head. I don't know what else to say, it just works for me. My Marlin 60, AR-15 and a few other autos work fine shooting southpaw, I haven't got dinged in the face. I'm sure it is only a matter of time, so as someone else said...wear protection.

I shoot mostly right handed when plinking or using a scope. I'll switch over to left whenever I want to take a really precise shot with irons.

I'm a south paw and have never had an ejected casing hit me. I have gotten a few slide bites because I wasn't paying close enough attention to my grip, but I'm pretty sure I've gotten consistant enough that it won't happen any more.
There is really little difference between right or left handed shooting for a lefty. We seem to have adjusted to it quite well. You should be able to pick up on it pretty easily.

I was at the range on Sunday morning pulled out my XD-45 and started emptying the magazine. As soon as I finished, I picked up another magazine to swap them out and at that time I realized I just shot an entire magazine from it right handed.
And my shooting was pretty good, considering I hadn't shot it since September last year.

The surprising part is that I'm Left handed predominent. I've never shot my XD right handed before. I've been practicing shooting my 9mm right handed all winter, hoping to get good enough with it to feel secure if anything bad were to happen to my left hand or arm.

The weather just got dry enough that I could get to the range without needing a life vest to keep from drowning. I took a few of my handguns out for a go-round. I spent a couple hours getting acclimated to them after the long time off and was quite pleased with the results. Now it's time to get serious and get the accuracy back down into the small circles again.

i would use this as a time to do things that folks normally don't like to do, and that is too shoot with thier reaction/support hand. don't use anything on your right hand, or you are setting your self up for faliure.
