I keep shotgun out in my shop. It is out of sight but not in a cabinet or case. What is the best way to cover the muzzle to keep mud dobbers out of the.barrel. Something I don't have to take the time to remove if I need it in a hurry. Something I can shoot off.

Yup. Just make sure it is unlubricated. Worked great keeping debris out of barrels of our truck guns overseas. And you can shoot through it if necessary.

Thanks rcmodel. I remember reading long ago that you could place a piece of tape on the muzzle if hunting in the rain or snow and just shoot it off without a problem. I'll glove it.

There's also "finger cots", look like mini condoms. Not sure where you'd get some though, probably drugstore.

I have an old Model 29 with a sawed off bbl. and stock. Keep it wrapped up in an old towel, tucked behind a stereo speaker, so the butt sticks out, in my garage. Been there for 20 yrs. and no one has ever noticed it.
Loaded with 5 "00" buck, ready for action.
Yes I have taken out and fired it occasionally, cleaned it, rewrapped it and put it back where it belongs. Just so I'll know it still works.

Here's another vote for the finger cots. I know the local Walgreens sells them, I have some floating around somewhere in the cabinet. Sliced my thumb open and bought some to keep it clean when I was working on a car and needed the dexterity I couldn't get using gloves. they were pretty cheap.
