Anyone out there know of someone offering an Officer's sized 38 super besides the limited run Colt "el Capitan"? Why hasn't this been offered by manufacturers? Ballistics not good?
Or even better, does anyone make Officer sized 38 super barrels? Springfield makes compact 9mms already. So the platform is there......
Anyone agree or am I the only one wanting this?

Personally, I would love to have a LW Officers in 38Super. Unfortunately, the Super is not a popular defense cartridge and there is a plethora of subcompact/micro 9mm's available now, so no market for an Officers in 38Super. It's all about economics.

I have sometimes pondered doing a "CCO" style .38 Super.

Commander-length slide and barrel, Officer length grip.

Concealabilty of an Officer, but better sight radius and ballistics.

Caspian builds proper upper and lowers for both, and somebody out there makes Officer-length .38 Super magazines.

Doable, but would be a custom piece.

I would think a chopped 38 super unless you hand loaded would be little more if any, hotter than a +P 9mm. Round was designed for a longer barrel . this is 357 snub type idea. Lots of noise and flash but not a lot of power over a 38+P just my thinking.

Michael, no doubt about that. I have been shooting 'Supers in IPSC competition for about 15 years and just like them.:D

I had one in Late 60's early 70's and loved it But couldn't find ammo anywhere except big city gun shops. Never found any HP back then at all
