Still browsing for new rifle (but have few hot candidates including "none") and meantime i had chance to try Vortex Strike Eagle LPVO

While i like LPVOs in generall i did find problem - since im almost blind on right eye i cant use LPVO from right shoulder (try it with closed right eye and you will "see")

And because im too budget and light-weight minded (so no backup red dot) im looking for other options how to get decent magnification optic system and would like to read your input on that topic

The issue is that optic must be short enough so i can see through under angle, which also means large eye box

High optic mount could help but with cost of making shooting from left shoulder akward

So far i can see only viable option - red dot/holo with magnifier. With that i could use zoom from left shoulder than switch magnifire to side and use holo/red dot only from right shoulder

I also did look on Primary Arms 3x MicroPrism SLx but i think eye box will be problem and i have nowhere to try it...

And one bonus issue - If i would go with option "none" in case of new rifle, would be such a option viable on Vz 58 mounted on handguard rail?

Thanks

It's possible to get a custom cross-eyed stock. A cheaper way is a triangular Picatinny rail and mount the scope on the left angle side. I'm just the opposite being left eye dominant and a right handed shooter. I had a see thru scope mount on a Winchester Model 94 30/30 which mounted on the left side of the receiver because of the ejection port. I had to learn to shoot somewhat left eyed while holding the gun right handed. Eventually I learned to close my left eye while shooting with a conventional rifle scope right handed.

I will shoot mainly from left shoulder, but since optics over here are quite expensive i would prefer both-shoulder solution not just because some state certified rifle courses here requiring shooting from both, but also for tatctical or health reassons. Just dont want find myselg in situation that i cant use my rifle

You’re not going to find any optic other than a 1x red dot which allows the shooter to shoot with the same eye from either shoulder.

The entire pursuit seems terribly ill-conceived to me.

Im shooting from left hand, i just dont want setup what i would not be able to use from right hand

No optic is going to have an eye box long enough to allow the wrong eye to be used sometimes and the correct eye to be use others. Your head position will be completely wonky as well.

It largely sounds like you need to acknowledge your disability - being blind in one eye effectively means you’re not able to shoulder a scoped rifle to that eye.

Maybe an extreme adaptation could be made to employ a 45degree offset red dot with a riser on the left side of your rifle, such the scope could be used left handed with your left eye, then if shouldering on your right, the offset red dot would bridge across your face to enable your left eye again to be your sighting eye.

But accepting our impairments is a fact of the condition. I’m deaf in my left ear, so I have to be mindful to sit indexed to the left in any customer meeting, and drive whenever traveling with colleagues or business partners, else my impairment gets the better of me. Being blind in your right eye undermines productive shooting from your right shoulder, so trying to manipulate scope mounts and finding some incredible eyebox depth just don’t make sense to me. I shoot with a couple of one eyed shooters, none have been too proud to acknowledge - hey, I can’t use my ____ eye, so I’m going to do _____ instead of going support side…”

Thanks, i just wasnt sure if im missing something.
I still have quite a good option in red dot/holo + magnifier or offset secondary sight and "primary eye optic"

Some people have put some effort into it though.

Knowing these offsets exist doesn’t help the OP’s insistence in being able to shoot with the same eye from both shoulders.

Maybe he wants to mount two scopes, one in this offset, and another on top of the receiver, largely the solution I suggested above - using one scope and an offset red dot - but I don’t see tactical or practical sensibility for it.

I missed the both shoulders part.

I guess one could do two, I’ve done it before myself but not for his reasons.

I also use two on my 3 gun rifle but use same eye and shoulder.

If I had to use one eye for both shoulders and had to have magnification, I would probably go with a pistol scope mounted as far forward as possible.

Of course those bring their own baggage but will give you magnification far enough away possibly lessen the angle enough for proper viewing.

First thing that comes to my mind is an offset RMR mount. Which might want a Pic rail, though.

The RMR ought suit the use.
There are RMR out there with loop mounts to encircle a scope tube, but I can't assess how available those are in Europe (or at what Prince's Ransom, either)
