Shot a S&W 500 today

I own a couple of the 460 and 500 Mags. I use them for hunting. The 460 is my long range handgun and my 500 Mag is my up close bear gun. We all have our reasons for what we like and frankly I could careless about what any of you have to say about my choice of guns. I don't remember any of you buying any of my guns. If I want to carry a 500 mag for what ever reason, it is my choice.

Bulldog500, I hate to bust your bubble, but the Taurus 500 Mag is not a very good looking gun at all. I have shot one and did not like the feel of the gun or anything about it. To say the S&W looks cheap is funny. Look real hard at your Taurus, now that is a cheap looking gun. :neener:

<<Oh, and every time I read one of your posts Troutman, I picture you as the Colonel from Rambo>>

Just realized that, thinking about it now.
I like, the late, Richard Crenna.
I remember a T.V. movie he played in (that comes to mind) with Angie Dickinson, “Thief”. One of his earlier works. Never was a big fan of his, per say. But I did like the roles he played through his career.
Well…Other than the spelling (“a”, instead of an “o”) of the name. I was in the same branch of service. Never stayed long enough to make a full bird Colonel though (or Colonel, for that matter). I remember some (not too many) guys (Army) making reference to that.
The ole’ man was “a swabby” (Navy). One brother was, one of those “lazy lugs, with those loveable mugs” (Marine). First to go!? Yea, but the Army’s always there! Perfect, for him! Always wondered why they need “A few good men”. The other was “A bumble bee” (Air Force). Their special! Fly High! He always thought he was above everyone else.
So, since other members of the family tried the rest. I wanted nothing, but the best

I don’t know if this is true. If you’re reloading your own, the S & W is the way to go. A friend who has a Taurus, which perked my interest in the 500, was telling me that. Their (S & W) cylinders are rated at (think)? 75,000 psi?
Reason he bought the Taurus was: he did not like stainless guns.
Me…I like stainless handguns. Had a 38 chief, stainless, that I always liked.
Its like anyting else. Choices.

Oh, thanks for letting me know. Now I gotta go and take a good hard look. :what:

P.S. I guess then it's a good thing you didn't buy the Taurus, not liking the feel and all.:neener:

Then why did he buy the Taurus then. I think those handguns can only be made in stainless.

Reply: They can be blued. After-market.

p.s. either way one has to thank S & W (and with the help of CorBon) for developing the 500 cartridge and the model 500. Without them, these other companies would not have had the opportunity to develop their handguns, from S & W model 500 industry standard.
