.
I'd like to give this a try... but my Wingmaster only holds five in the tube with it's Wilson Combat 1-rd extension. I don't want a longer mag extension on it.
Nobody will complain if you try it. You'll just be nice and slow. Depending on your club you may run into the "par" time on certain stages, and they'll just stop you when you hit the max time for the stage and you'll just take the penalty. This helps keep matches running when people miss a lot or are REEEEEALLY slow.
Shotgun reloading is where almost everyone adds a lot of time. If I ever get my video up you can see how long I take. It feels like an eternity when watching it.
You can get a sidesaddle, butt cuff, arm cuff, bandolier, and/or shooting pouch/bag and just load shotgun from that. It's about having fun, not being fast.
For example, the match winner's time was 242 seconds. My time as noted above was 666 seconds. That means that over 8 stages I took an average of 53 seconds longer to shoot each stage than he did. LOLOL Almost a frickin' MINUTE longer times 8 stages.
I've shot with plenty of guys shooting 28" duck guns and 4-round mag tubes. My mossberg holds 9 in the gun and 12 ON the gun (sidesaddle and butt cuff) and I run a bandolier when I need more than that (rarely at our club). I'm not fast. I've tried to learn to load 4 at a time using shell caddies but I suck at it.
And if you decide to run a bolt-action rifle you'll be
extra-super-slow. But you'll be the coolest guy there.
