The last place was pretty neat but maybe we can find something that is not so noisy?
May I suggest: picnic in the desert?

Bring a grill, some chuck, chicken wings, pork bbq, potato salad, beans, cole slaw, beer, a table or 12, chairs ... what ever else.

Dang, I wish I could make this. It's not the best time for me. (Within 2 weeks of the end of phase 1, 2006).

I may still yet.

Sounds good, '870. We'll each put some in our checked baggage and you can pick us up on the strip with your bus.

What's that? You won't be there. No problem. We'll try your idea next year.

For the rest, again, I would set something up if I knew Vegas. But I don't.

Who of the "maybes" are going for sure? Let's count noses and see if we need a big room (or at least a reservation) or whether we'll just show up at a Taco Bell.

No one has answered any of the questions I asked in my first post of this thread.
I am not going to waste my time making suggestions when I don't know what anyone wants to do.
First and foremost we have to decide if this is about a "get together", or this is about eating. If it is about eating, I can do that anytime.

Uh, 444, not to pick on you, but it looks like most of the posts to this thread (after yours) went along the line of "get together, not just eating." I thought mine did, anyhow...

I agree that a bar would probably be a better venue for visiting/conversation/swapping lies. Decent food would be a bonus. Decent beer would be a requirement, at least for me. :D

Ok, how about McMullan's ?

On Tropicana, across the street from the Rio.

They have good food IMO.
I go there to drink.
A buddy of mine held the XMAS party for his cowboy action shooting club there in December. They have an alcove where you could get maybe 15 or so people into a semi-private area. This is probably a mile west of the New York New Yord/MGM/Excaliber/Tropicana (corner of Las Vegas Blvd. x Tropicana).

Looks like I will probably be going. Another possibility would be Bucco di Beppo, on Flamingo (north side, east of Kival). It's a long walk from the strip, but do-able. They serve family style (big heaping plates to share) and the prices are pretty good. With a little bit of notice, they could accomodate a lot of people.

Edit: I forgot to mention that it is Italian food.

I think the place should be within walking distance or on the tram line. It would be nice to meet at least an hour after the show so that I can make it to the hotel first.

A question -- Does the Rio have a shuttle that picks up people in other hotels? McMullins is no problem for me. I think casinos have shuttle services. Take the shuttle to the Rio and walk across the street to the THR get together!

McMullans is fine with me. I am staying at Mandalay Bay so if it needs to be on the tram line House of Blues is another alternative.

I am really easy. Any time, anywhere, Thursday-Sunday, I'll be there.

I think that eating and talking would be good, but I'm flexible. Irish, Italian, whatever! I don't mind taking a taxi, if necessary. An hour after the show closes would be good. Early enough to meet others later, if you need to.

Sounds like Friday or Saturday evening would be best. Shall we take a head count?

I will be there! I have to pick up my wife at the airport around 5 PM Friday. If we are meeting after 6 or 7 PM Friday, we will both be there. Anytime Saturday is OK, location no problem. I will be staying at THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay - It's right next door to Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

I would be happy to give anybody that needs it, a ride. McMullens is a few miles off the strip. In my other post, I mistakenly reported that it is across the street from the Rio: it isn't. It is across the street from the Orleans.

I am sure we can make arrangements for anyone that needs a ride to get one.

Someone announce a night & a time. Husband and I may make a showing, but have several other irons in the fire which take higher priority (sigh).

I've got meetings and dinner appointments and general industry schmoozing all week. But somebody pick a date/time/place. Make it official, and I'll try to make it. Between 1-4 people, but that depends on aformentioned schmoozing.

Being the first penguin off the ice flow...

McMullens - Friday night, 7:30- 8 pm The last word unless somebody else speaks up. 4 people in tow. I won't even ask if this is O.K.
