I have the opportunity to purchase any or all of these guns. What is worth picking up? Do not know the prices...but if I know what they are worth I can make an offer.

***Here is what I will do. If any of you want anything pictured in this post pm me with a price you are willing to pay. I will then make an offer to the owners. However, I should warn you that they are using my 2005 Blue Book of gun values as a frame of reference for the prices. They do not seem to be too interested in selling multiple guns at a discount. But that may change. These guns are located in MA. Would need to go through FFL. *Mods - if this is inappropriate please only remove this paragraph with the offer.

yes. all of them.

you jerks. are you going to leave those adorable guns homeless?

Offer the guy $1800 for the lot (sans ammo, tell him to sell that online and he'll make a bundle)

I am not crazy about some of the Mil-Surps, but if you can afford/want them all, why not get'em. Or just get the ones you want.
I would love to have all of the pistols and side hammer (sorry can remember proper terms) rifles and shotguns.

I agree with Pax, theres some fine looking firearms there some aren't worth much but some can be worth a bundle offer $1800-2000 but skip the ammo all that would be a great start for a collection and the resale would get you a nice profit if you decide to go that route, you can check Gunbroker for individual prices.

This is why you should "thin the herd" while you still have all your faculties.

When your croak, anything you still have stashed in the closet will be "disposed of" for pennies on the dollar. I see it all the time.
It may apply to all things, but it sure does apply to guns.

Looks like a rather 'eclectic' collection. Some are old European, some ???
The Colt Govt 380 (#6), yes.
I'd have someone knowledgable of Trapdoors check out the serial number of 9/10; if it's a Model 1873 it could be suprisingly valuable.
Not a Custer because it's not a carbine.
#48 is interesting - looks like a Snider or Allin (I'm not too knowledgeble but I do recognize them from the design) - another possibly rare item!

......
The dudes gonna need a damned U-haul to get those things to his house.
Honestly I got sick of scrolling down that list, it was so far down.

If they are in good condition, if you like them, if you can afford them, and if you can get them for a reasonable price, then buy them. If those criteria cannot be met, pass on them.

you can never have enough guns, especially interesting ones.

you can however, have a shortage of money preventing you from having more guns.

I see a Ljungman in there, that one alone could be worth close to $800. But then again, I'm a sucker for the mil-surps.

Edit to add: #11 looks like a Lebel to me. That could bring a great price too, depending on condition.

pick up all of those 22BB's you can get certain collectors will pay reasonably well for them

As a package, I would think that there's a lot of good collector's material there with some non-collectibles. I'd say get it and keep the ones you want and offer the other's in the FS/FT forum here.

definitely a couple of gems in there. 4,6, 56 and 58 seem like no-brainers (edit - that is assuming the number is before the picture...)

One thing you should have your friend seriously consider is to sell them at gun auction. Experienced gun auctioneers know how to get top dollar for them and often get surprising prices for run of the mill guns.

The auctioneer would probably also have a pretty good idea what is hot in the collector market right now, and there may be a few pieces he might want to have sold in a more specialized auction.

Looks like someone was doing a little spring cleaning. First impression- lots of JUNK. :barf: The pistols are low quality especially.

Should you buy them to boost your collection? I'd say no, and since you're asking us nothing is jumping out at you.

Should you buy them as a business move? Maybe. You could try to buy these at a low bulk price (figure it out) and then sell them off one at a time to turn a profit. But that may take time.

Overall A LOT OF JUNK. It reminds me why I focus on quality not quanity. :)

Some really nice stuff, like the S&W 41. Some really neat, interesting stuff, like the Krag, the Snider, the Schmidt Rubin. And some no-account junk, like the Raven 25. (But a sort of classic piece of junk.)

But it looks like all these fine and not-so fine guns are being stored in a dank basement, without proper care. I see active rust on many of them. That S&W Model 41 (a fine and valuable pistol) has some NASTY fingerprints which are quietly etching their way deeper and deeper even as you read this.

This collection is being destroyed.

I'd say get a clean cotton cloth, and spray it with CLP. Wipe down all the exposed metal on all the guns. And GET THEM OUT OF THAT BASEMENT!
