So im at wal mart just seeing what ammo they have. 3 boxes of 12ga 25 rnds for 5$. So im buying those.

But everything else is out if stock but they have 4 boxes of 555 rounds winchester 22lr hollow points. For 23$ a box.

Should i buy some ? I dont even own a 22lr gun.. but 555 rounds for 22$ of hollow points sounds. Awfully cheap.. maybe i can resell them lol ?

If I saw those I would buy all I could. Last 22lr I saw on shelf around here was 500 pack of thunderbolts for $37.00

Well im new to guns i dont know what scalping is. I guess thats buying and reselling ? I see. I just got 2 boxes and the shotguns shells left the other 4. In case i get a 22 or something. Who knows ive gotten 4 calibers of guns in just august lol

Not exactly. Buying up everything on the shelf and then doubling, tripling the resale price. It can be any product in a shortage. Thats usually why stores have limits right now.

Oh i see. I wouldnt double it.. i was just thinking of reselling for like 35$ vs the 24$ i paid. Thats fair considering theyre 45-50$ online with shipping. Or trading em for ammo i do need but cant find

Makes me think your next gun will be chambered in .22 LR.

That works but I personally leave some on the shelf for the next guy. Might need it for hunting, pest control or taking a kid shooting.

There ya go! Everyone should have a .22.

That needs fixing.
Almost is unAmerican ;)

OP, you’ll have a great time with a new .22. You can start inexpensively with a Heritage Rough Rider or Ruger Wrangler single action revolver…up a notch in price to get a Marlin 60 or Ruger 10-22 semi auto rifle… a bit more for maybe a Browning Buckmark or Ruger Mk IV semi auto handgun….

Once you buy one .22 take it from me, you’ll be hooked

Stay safe.

When I stumble across great deals like that I try to think if anyone I know who might want/need some. And I try to plan, but don't always know what lies ahead. So, when in doubt, if I have the cash, I buy it,,,,usually. Last year I saw some CCI SV .22 at a gun show for $20 per brick. The guy had 8 but I only bought one. An hour or so later, I decided to go back, but they were all sold. I could tell many such stories. Like passing up bricks of 17HMR at a Murdoch's in Livingston, MT for $90 and NO TAX. Another big regret that I only bought one. What I DO NOT do is buy thinking I can make a buck by reselling. My 2 cents.

Now, if the store has it marked for $23, it's probably not hurting the store to sell it at that price.
Now, whether you can get $10 reselling the stuff is a larger question--this is a very squirrelly market--there are legitimate reasons online ammo is so much higher.

Now, 555 rounds for $23 is a decent buy--4.1¢ each is not bad, but, you will probably find a potential purchaser is going to argue that rimfire ammo ought to be 2¢ each, so you should be happy to get ten bucks for your box (did I mention squirrels in the market?)

Now, .22lr is so ubiquitous, I would have grabbed a couple of those boxes just to keep in the closet.

That's because if you don't Murphy will require that, tomorrow, out of the blue, some one will near force a .22 only for free (or close to it). At which point that [expletive] Murphy will have sent some other dude to WM and bought all that .22, and you won't find any. Murphy is ugly that way.

Now, the only reason I wouldn't have bought those Winchesters is that none of my .22s "like" them best. (PMC FMJ; Aguila Super Max; Federal Auto Match; and CCI LRN are the brands I get to watch for).

August is over. Its a new month and a .22LR should be in your sights this month. Just as a aside, shooting is a diminishing skill set if you don't practice. A 22LR in a similar configuration as a handgun or rifle that you have is a cheap way to keep up your shooting skills. SO GET ONE!

Well i decided to go back into walmart. I bought the other boxes to stock mysekf up on it as the gf was looking at this 1977 rugar type pistol in 22lr. Then i went to cabelas to look at 22LR guns. As i was there i started talking to a guy and we just started talking about black powder and everything else for 2 hours

He was there looking for 22LR. So i said hey i got 6 or 7 boxes of it. And he wanted all of them. Soo i sold em all for 35$ a box, i couldnt say no lol. Made 90$ in profit. He still got a deal considering the prices of 22lr in cabelas were 4x highee and online on ammo seek were 2x higher and no taxes or shipping costs

Oh well hate on me for making money but it is what it is. Its not like i sold them for 50$ a box.

$23/ box, get 4 at less than $100 after tax. You will be glad you did. And who shoots guns that doesn't own a .22. It's like having a tool box without a set of pliers. Joe
