If you say so lol i litterally didnt know abiut people buying and resling or if thwt price was good.. i just happened to get lucky and someone buy all of em an hour later in cabelas

$23/ box, get 4 at less than $100 after tax. You will be glad you did. And who shoots guns that doesn't own a .22. It's like having a tool box without a set of pliers. Joe

I dont ive only had guns for 4 months. I habe a 44cal black powder revolvers. 45acp, 12ga, 16ga shotguns, and 44 magnum henry rifle and a 45-70 sharps rifle. Just never looked at 22lr honestly

I never “buy up” ammo. If there are 4 boxes and no limits I would buy 1 or 2.
I am not trying to be a jerk, but it gets on my nerves when people buy up ammo and have no need for it and only buy it to have it because it was there.

Redeem yourself. Buy yourself a .22 firing long gun or handgun. ;)

Well i decided to go back into walmart. I bought the other boxes to stock mysekf up on it as the gf was looking at this 1977 rugar type pistol in 22lr. Then i went to cabelas to look at 22LR guns. As i was there i started talking to a guy and we just started talking about black powder and everything else for 2 hours

He was there looking for 22LR. So i said hey i got 6 or 7 boxes of it. And he wanted all of them. Soo i sold em all for 35$ a box, i couldnt say no lol. Made 90$ in profit. He still got a deal considering the prices of 22lr in cabelas were 4x highee and online on ammo seek were 2x higher and no taxes or shipping costs

Oh well hate on me for making money but it is what it is. Its not like i sold them for 50$ a box.

There are haters out there, to be sure. I don't give them much of my time. In my opinion, it's YOUR PRIVATE PROPERTY and what you do with it is YOUR business. If you got a hundred bucks a box...great!

What people in general detest are those who contribute to a market shortage in progress by deliberately going around buying up cheap(er) sources of ammo and then reselling it at radically increased prices.

Interestingly, the same people upset by this are upset when businesses raise their prices, as well. Which has the effect of curbing these types of "scalpers" by making it less profitable for them. In general, it means that even though prices may be higher for people in these businesses, at least they are more likely to have ammo in stock for those who really need it.

Here's my opinion on ammunition purchasing:

Budget yourself a wee bit of money each payday/month for ammunition expressly so you can buy a box "here and there". This should be a routine for you, whether you're actively shooting at the range or not. There was a time several years ago, during a period I wasn't shooting much, when every time I went to Walmart I'd also walk out with a box or two of 9mm WWB (at $9.95/100 round box) or a box of .45 ACP WWB (at $19.95/100 round box). I always had a $20 bill in my wallet from each payday expressly for that purpose.

In times of plenty, you'll develop a decent stockpile for your shooting pleasure. When times are lean...it doesn't affect you because you already have all you need to get you through.

22 rimfire has become my favorite round to shoot. If I was almost out of 22 ammo I would probably buy the Winchester. I was in Walmart a couple of weeks ago and they had some Winchester 22 on the shelf at a reasonable price. I walked on by as my experience with the new Winchester offerings is that it is about the lowest if not the lowest quality 22 rimfire ammo produced today.

Almost is unAmerican ;)

OP, you’ll have a great time with a new .22. You can start inexpensively with a Heritage Rough Rider or Ruger Wrangler single action revolver…up a notch in price to get a Marlin 60 or Ruger 10-22 semi auto rifle… a bit more for maybe a Browning Buckmark or Ruger Mk IV semi auto handgun….

Once you buy one .22 take it from me, you’ll be hooked

Stay safe.

Nice starter set!

Well im new to guns i dont know what scalping is. I guess thats buying and reselling ? I see. I just got 2 boxes and the shotguns shells left the other 4. In case i get a 22 or something. Who knows ive gotten 4 calibers of guns in just august lol
Just buy a 22. They really are a necessary part of shooting skills. Cheap and fun compared to other cartridges.
General consensus is buy for yourself or your friends. Don't try to build a huge stockpile during a shortage.

I feel we’re handling this topic well as a community. “I found cheap ammo for a caliber I don’t own.” The solution is always “buy the ammo, then get one or more guns to shoot said ammo.” I may or may not have built an AR 15 only because I found a lot of .223 brass one time and one thing led to another…

Wait, $5 for a 25rd box of 12GA??? I'm assuming #8 target loads? That is a crazy good deal right now. That works out to be like $50/flat

Yes i went to another walmart today to see what they had. ( i didnt realize walmart sold ammo still) and they had a bunch of rifle ammo. 7mm, 22-250, 243 and 300.

They had tons of boxes of 28ga, 20ga, 16ga, 12ga. I had my gf with me.

So i got the 16ga ammo. My 1942 german side by side is 16ga and i only have 6 boxes. I cant find any in stock online right now either. Got 4 boxes of them, various shots. 6, 7 1.2, and 8. They were 7$ a box of 25.

Which is pretty good considering 16ga seems to be more expensive everywhere compared to 12ga. They also had more 12ga for $5.50 A box. Im going back tomorrow to get some more 12ga.

Question about the 16ga shells. Two of the boxes were Federal 6 shot, and said game load on them. But i could find anything on the pellets. Just said HARD SHOT. But online the same box says hard shot.. but then says lead. I want to stick with pure lead for my 80 year old 16ga. No steel etc.

What does hard shot mean ? Is it lead or ? I didnt buy those two boxes because of it

Cabelas was 4 times higher? That’s $96 a box. Sorry but not true..

Cabelas is selling boxes of 5 for 15-20$ for some of the 12ga ammo. The buckshot. And ive seen boxes of 10 rnds of birdshot for 15$ or so at cabelas as well. 5x4 is 20$. Can you add ?

.
you say you sold for $35 a box. Cabelas was 4 times higher you say, I’m assuming 4 times higher than Walmart pricing. That’s around $96 a box after taxes.
But everything else is out if stock but they have 4 boxes of 555 rounds winchester 22lr hollow points. For 23$ a box. Goodbye.
