Ahem....
In my opinion, without the safety sear, this rifle is a hand grenade. I had a case head blow out on mine, for what I believe was an incomplete chambering due to the location on the cartridge case where it happened. Smoke in the eye, bowed top cover, very scarey.
The vagaries in the dimensions of the surplus ammo, combined with what seemed to be a snug chamber on mine, led to a catastrophic result. I do not know what happened for sure, but the case didn't eject. I *believe* that perhaps it might have been incompletely chambered. The chamber area at the boltface/chamber interface is reverse tapered to allow bolt fit, and I think that may have been a contributing factor to the kaboom. I don't know for sure, and never will.
I would strongly consider buying a different rifle
