I purchased a Glock 23, love it, although (being fairly new to shooting) I hear the rumors (?) of Kabooms with them.......My friend keeps telling me that the springfield XD .40 would have been a far better choice......I disagreed, then thought about it later realizing I never researched the XD, I was dead set on getting a Glock. I'm looking for some honest opinions. Which would you have picked????

The XD, but I don't care for Glocks, never have. The Indiana State Police had the same issue with their Glock .40's and now they're switching back to the 9mm.

Any gun can blow up.

Use you head, keep the gun clean, don't shoot reloads unless they are your own, and enjoy your Glock.

If you decide you like another gun better, fine; but don't change guns because of kaboom fears. 99% of kabooms are traced directly to faulty ammo.

If your gun is working fine...why switch?
Like the last post says--just take care of it.
Take it for walks, give it baths, and don't feed it right. =)

Glock 23.

I don't worry about Kabooms. Mine Glock .40s all get fed quality factory loaded .40SW FMJ or JHPs. I don't shoot reloads in my Glocks, especially not my .40s. Also, I have an aversion to Federal. I'm sure it's alright now, but seems like every time I hear of a Glock blowing up with factory ammo, it was Federal. If you want to shoot reloads, the aftermarket barrels are available for around $100. However, that might make the whole thing a bit too expensive. I shoot my 22 and 23 and just don't worry about it.

Bottom line is shoot both and get the gun you like. If you decide on the XD, I'd get one of the bitones, though.

I had a Glock 23, if I shot it well I would have kept it. It was reliable, and an overall great pistol. I never considered the kB situation to be anything to worry about. Enjoy your pistol, if and only if you like or shoot the XD45, then trade for it. But don't trade your gun based on pure speculation. :)

I don't own (and have never shot) either, so I'm either as biased or neutral as can be--you decide.

I just don't like the feel of the Glocks, and I think they cost more than the XD's (I may be wrong, and probably am).

That being said, I've reloaded some bad rounds, and never had one go boom (they run light). If you load personal defense rounds, I'd be a bit wary with either.

Enough rambling. Buy the XD, sell me the Glock. I'll give you $200 for it:neener:

I've seen alot of guns go kaboom....a USP, a 92fs, a S&W and even had a Glock blow up in my hands :what: OUCH! What I'm trying to say is they all have potential to blow up so don't worry. If you're happy w/ your pistol, go out, shoot it, enjoy it!

with the glock just don't shoot lead ammo, with no lead ammo and no double charged handloads and you should never have a kaboooommm! with any handgun and you will be good, i prefer the xd for several reasons the main is because the glock feels horrible in my hand and the xd fits like a glove. a glock is an awesome handgun butpersonally i just prefer the xd, but if it fits your hand and you like it and perform well with it than you should keep it.
