Glock 23 or XD 40?

Possibly because it hasn't been on the market for several decades?

I won't disagree with on that, its like I told someone on another board give it a decade or so and then we can talk about it.

If you wait a decade before accepting any newcomers (because of reputation), there would be no advancement in technology. Promoting Glock because they've always been there is like telling someone to buy a CRT TV because we know what to expect - those plasmas are kinda newfangled.

There are either flaws in the design and manufacturing or there aren't. Flaws in the XD would have appeared by now - between testing and simply being used for several years.

I don't own a Glock or an XD, and have fired each in .40 (didn't particularly care for either), but I'll be looking at the 9mm sub-compact by each sooner or latter. Fit, feel and sight picture will be the criterion, not which one has the name.

Sometimes technology is not so great, take the old pickup I used to have plain, simple, rugged, and virtually indestructible, no fancy gizmo's that wasn't needed, very few parts, now take the thirty thousand dollar pickup I drive which feels so much better and is more comfortable but has been in the shop more times than I can count. Technology is great but sometimes compromises reliability.

Wooderson,

How many??? You got the inside scoop?

Anyone know how many XDs have been sold since they were introduced?

Thanks

No, that's what I'm saying - I've heard no horror stories about XD unreliability or multiple trips back to Springfield. That suggests, to me, that we're beyond needing to worry about Glock's longevity.

Ya know, I remember this EXACT same statement by a ton of 1911 and Browning Hi-Power guys when Glock gained traction. (1998 or thereabouts).

:neener:

You know, I kinda like Glock getting all this competition. The more XD and SW push the envelope the more Glock has to improve their product to stay competitive. I look forward to better Glocks to come!

XD

I had the same choice a few months back, and went with the XD. I haven't been sorry about my decision and believe I made the best decision, FOR ME.
YOU may like the ugliness of the glock, but for ME it was just TOO ugly, butt ugly. As far as reliability, I haven't heard much about XD's being unreliable, quite the contrary. Mine has shot everything I've fed it w/o a hiccup. Plus, as I've said, is a MUCH better looking weapon then a glock, MUCH.;)
