Hey, I just trying to get some good ideas, so if you will, can you post pics, and tell the coponetes of each rifle.

I would post my only rifle, except for the fact that I don't know how to (pictures).

But is a Remington 700 SPS Varmit with:
Leupold Mk4 mount and rings
BSA 4-16x40mm mil-dot scope (I know oh, no, it's a BSA, but I'm upgrading to a SS 10x42mm in the near future)
Harris 6"-9" bipod that's still on the shelf
HS Precision thumbhole stock in the mail

As you can see I'm upgrading 3 coponetes on my '700.

Thanks

Go to photobucket and get free picture hosting. Upload pictures then use the IMG Code and paste it to your post here! Rather simple once you get set up...

Can you send one to an email addres and "copy and paste" it on here, seems alot less tecnical, and I'm very un-tectical, I just recently found out how to "draw" a :) without clicking the icon....

Remington custom shop model 7 is the closest I have.

hinton03 that is sweet. What chambering? I just need to borrow it for a few weeks for a August sheep hunt. Will return ASAP:D

PB WALSH.. after you get a photobucket account you click on the button that says "upload files" or "upload pictures" or something like that. That will bring up your computer files and you click on your picture. It then loads into photobucket and should show up below the upload section.

Then waive your mouse over the picture and a menu will drop down. The last option is "image" and click on it. It will say "copied".

Then paste that in your reply and you have a picture in your post.

This instruction makes it sound a lot harder than it really is!!!

700

Remmy 700 varmint, .243 with a harris and El. Cheapo BSA, the glass is actually fine for what I do and has held up under the light recoil of .243

Here's mine, bought a 700P for the barreled action, harvested that and assembled the rest myself:

Specs:

Rem 700P action, chambered in .308 Win
Millet one piece mount
Leupold MkIV rings
Leupold MkII 4-18X40mm mil-dot
Bell & Carlson alum bed vertical grip adjustable stock
Harris SL Bipod (the Harris was back ordered for some time, so the picture was taken with the cheapo bipod that I used while I waited for my Harris to show up)

I like it a lot. First time to the range, it took four shots to zero and then put the next five into an inch at 100 yds with a 15 mph cross wind, and the trigger pull weight set at "stiffer than a MoFo" from the factory.

When I next catch a calm day, I'm gonna punch a few groups with it and really see what I and it can do. Now that I've got the trigger pull down around a pound and the stock adjusted to fit me, I think it's got sub 1/2" @ 100 yds in it.

The real question is, do I have it in ME. I'm pretty sure I can do it, we'll just have to wait and see.

Not really "custom", but it does the job!

Rem 700 Mountian Rifle, Leupold M8 4X Scope. Leuy bases and rings.
Chambered in 7mm X 57mm Mauser

This rifle will print 3 shot 1.5 MOA groups with 130 to 175 gr. projectiles, and has done so for > 5k rounds ever since 1992.

There was a 10 year period where it killed 22 deer and 2 elk with 27 rounds.

It took a cow elk last season.

HINTON....... that is a very cool, classy 308 you have there how much did it set you back if you dont mind me asking???

BHLBAMA it is actually a 223 Remington; I use it for my truck rifle an coyote call gun.

I beleive new from the cutom shop it is around $2,500, but I picked it up used "as new" in 2003 for $1,300.

Rem 700 .30-06

Only real "custom" part of this rifle is that I glass bed and free floated the barrel myself and adjusted the trigger.
A little video I did of my first time shooting this rifle for sight in. The gun is on the bench for the vid but I was actually shooting prone a little further back because the bench isn't exactly at 100yds, more like 95 ish.

P.S. LogicGS, that 700P looks stellar man. How much does it weigh out of curiosity?

Wow, that's a NICE:):):) looking stock on that 30-06.

And for the 700 PSS, where did you find just the barreld action, I've been looking (kinda) for one, PLEASE let me know:)

Haven't set it on a scale or anything, but if I had to guess I'd say 12-15 lbs anyhow.

It's a heavy bastard, that's for sure.

The stock is VERY heavy all by itself, something like 8 lbs bare.

Being a Bell & Carlson I wasn't expecting McMillan stiffness, but I was very much impressed with this one's rigidity. If it's not every bit as rigid as the McMillan, I'd be surprised.

No matter how I loaded the thing I could not see any deflection, and the barrel stays floated even when I lean on it.

That's about all you can really ask from a stock anyway, and since the weight is a bit on the high side, I'd guess that it has a solid core.

I'm very happy with it, that is for sure. It fits the action very well, with good bearing all across the bedding block, and barrel has over 1/16" of float all the way up to the recoil lug.

The only modification I made was to relieve the area around the bolt handle where it had a small area of contact with the bolt closed. Half an hour with a file and some 600 grit sand paper, and you can't even tell it's been worked on. No paint, the color goes all the way through the resin.

PB - Sorry man, I got mine the old fashioned way, by buying a complete 700P and harvesting the barreled action.

It came in an HS Precision stock, which was terrible in both fit and ergonomics. The comb was way too low, and the ridiculous palm swell grip was so damned big I couldn't get my hand all the way around it.

I wasn't a fan, so it got 86'ed in favor of the B&C, which I believe to be a superior piece.

This particular B&C at least is both better built and fits the action much better than the HSP it displaced.

The H&S weighed just over two pounds, so definitely a foam core in that one.

SB - Love the color and grain of that stock. I've never been much of a fan of thumbhole stocks, they just look funny to me, but that one is made from some beautiful wood. I bet that rifle is a good shooter too.

Does that rifle have a detachable box magazine? That's the one thing mine is missing, and I wish I could have found a donor rifle with the drop mag bottom metal, but it was not to be.

I've been tempted several times to go the aftermarket route and spring for the bottom metal from Tactical Rifles that lets you use the AI mags, but I can't bring myself to spend $400 on a floor plate and $100 a piece on magazines to convert a rifle I paid $800 for initially.

I'm keepin' my eyes peeled though. The first time I see either a another good barreled action with the DBM, or a cost effective aftermarket solution, I'll be on it like a pack of dogs on a fat kid.
