Show us a picture of your reloading bench

small but it'll do...portable too

This is an older communications "camper" that fits in the back of a pickup bed. I turned it into a reloading shed and it's perfect. The door is like a bank vault, has outside power connection with comm lines and it's a solar reflective olive drab color so when the SHTF in the future I can load it and run for the hills and take my goodies with me.

Just use a couple of camper jacks, they hook under the edges along each side and lift it straight up, back under it and set it down. Hook up the tie downs and go.

All you guys have such NICE and PRETTY spaces, solid floors, beer coolers, even square footage... where as mine is pretty limited. Kinda like living on a boat. LOL

bonza, I thought the pegboard was a pretty good place for it. And, yes, I guess there was something of a "message" there.:)

Well here's my new bench! I'm no Rembrant, but at least I have a nice big bench to reload (and sleep) on! A Big thanks for everyone here who helped me out with advice! You all are the best!

Pics from before to after - the last pic is behind me. We like anything that shoots from Bang, to thwump, to sproing, to pffft :D

What a great looking reloading area. You should be able to spend many a pleasurable hour out there. Sometimes even juts straightening up the area helps you unwind when you are feeling pressured.

newbie

Greetings Gentlemen and Ladies(?)-

I'm new to this forum and pretty new to [participation in] forums in general, but an old hand at the web. Though I'm not new to firearms (yet somewhat new to anything more than intermittent, adolescent blasting— about time, I'm 52), finally working on a bit of precision as well as fun, and I'm going to be new to reloading this Spring. As a grey collar working stiff with a suburban mortgage, two tuition bills, and four old vehicles, reloading not only presents as an natural extension to my hobby appealing to my tinkerer temperament but also as a practical aspect in minding my increasingly scarce "extra" pennies. I own a mere even dozen firearms (adding maybe a Rem 870 in the foreseeable future) and plan to reload for 9mm x 19 and .38spl for starters. After long research far beyond my normal patience and attention span I’ve settled upon the Lee LoadMaster (kit for 9mm), probably from Midway. I'm setting up a 9x12 shed in the backyard (will be complete with heat and AC as of the end of this coming weekend!) in which to place my gun bench, currently located in the shop out in the garage. I have one friend who reloads, Hornady single stage only, and he now lives some 800mi from me (seven years ago I moved my family from the People’s Socialist Republic of Massachusetts to the Charlotte, NC area to study theology. I really like it here). He's been a great help but as I'm going Lee progressive...

I came to this forum because after many months of browsing the surprisingly many existing gun forums out there I've found this one to be, IMO, of quality, distinctly mature yet diverse. And I could use a bunch of that positive kind of influence. Hope I come up to speed soon.

Well, I've gone long in the way of introduction. I'll be asking a lot of questions (not too many really dumb ones, hopefully) and hope to soon have something to offer in return as well.

From the Parapet,
James

Well the updates may be yearly and not monthly - at least if my wife has anything to say about it! :D The bench and my first batch of equipment is all my spending for a while unfortunately :(

(of course that's assuming I can't find where she hides her purse ;) )

My bench in the garage. It's an old dresser with two sheets of plywood on top.

Started two and 1/2 weeks ago!

I started reloading about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I took a metal frame shelving section and reinforced it with 2x4's on the understand to withstand the torque of the press. I just installed the stainless cabinet tonight for my powders, bullets and primers. I'm getting there!! I like things neat and organized, but I can see things going south as I progress in this hobby. I have another setup like this on the adjoining wall for working on and cleaning my collection of firearms. It's in the garage however..and the neighbors give me strange looks when they drive by!! I can hear it now! "Martha...our neighbor has lost his mind! He's starting a ammunitions plant!"

And it's a fine looking ammunitions plant too.

And in only 2 weeks.......I wonder what it will look like in a couple of years.

Welcome to the madness chrt.

Seedtick

:)

I am amazed that that is 2 weeks. I am kinda jealous, several months, and I have 3 tubs of powder and 3 boxes of primers lol. Then again I am still dealing with the poor college student syndrome lol.

WOW! Great setup after only 2 weeks! Looks like you are on the fast track! :) Thanks for sharing your pics!

Wrage, I like the kids arsenal rack!!

kids? who said anything about kids? :D lol! (well, it's MOSTLY the kids)

I don't know. Looks like they are going soft on crime. :what:

Don't worry Greg we aim for the eyes (and reloads are waaaay cheaper) :D

That's OK. At least you are starting at a young age!! I started at 55!! You have plenty of time for this hobby to snowball into an absolute obsession!!

I'm wondering the same thing. Nice going.
You put some thought into the setup too it looks like. Case prep on the left, on to priming, then charging, then the press. Looks efficient and well set up.
Welcome aboard sir.
