Show Us Your 40's!

Here's another one of mine: a Browning Hi Power in .40 S&W...this one's just a hair more accurate than my 9mm BHP and only with one specific load.

Contrary to my experience with most of my autos, and with any caliber, I find that they like heavier bullets; this one perks best with mid-level weights vs. the heavier ones.

Hornady 155 gr XTP's, or the Montana Gold equivalents, are just the ticket when loaded over a mid-level charge of Accurate #7. Same is true with cast bullets...those155 gr weights see hit the sweet spot. Best regards, Rod.....sweet bluing job on this one in particular, eh Komrads?

2nd Pic is one of my home spun rigs for it...not a lot of extra weight in that leather...original stocks in this pic...Hogues in the 1st pic.

Ks5shooter has a nice Glock 27....I do not, but this one has been carried everyday for over 8 years and occasionally before that. I had the barrel and slide NP3 coated a few years back, but even that isn't holding up to the Texas heat and humidity. Pants on, gun on!

Don't own any .40's currently.

I have nothing against the round; had a Springfield XD Tactical (5"), and XDsc and Glock 23.

Couldn't warm up to the Glock, no matter how many time I've tried, they just don't fit my hand.

Surprisingly, the XDsc was the 2nd most accurate semi auto I've ever owned (#1 CZ P-01)

I still have tons of reloading components however and have been thinking about adding another .40 to my collection.
Leaning towards a S&W M&P

The primary reason I haven’t sold my .40 yet is I still have almost 1000 180 gr bullets that need to be loaded and shot.

The secondary is it’s got a .357 sig barrel I keep meaning to use and play around with that caliber some.

I own two .40’s. My original issue Glock 35. That we were allowed to buy back when we were issued Glock 22’s.

And, my issue Glock 22. That the Police Association bought for me when I retired.

Both have my badge number as part of the serial number. The 35’s, they just bought a random prefix with badge numbers in order.

The 22, Glock made a run for us with the Department initials and badge numbers. Nice touch I thought.

Both perfectly good guns.

Did you have a preference between the G35 and G22?

I carried a 1911 for 12 years before we got the issue Glock 35’s. So, I was already used to the long barrel and slide. It carried about the same for me.

For shooting. And carrying in uniform, where you can wear a lower drop holster, I’d prefer the 35. The slightly longer sight radius is nice.

Realistically, the Glock 22 is fine for just about everything. And, a little easier to clear leather with a concealment holster. Especially with kinda messed up shoulders.

S&W 646 .40 S&W. They made some slab-sided Performance Center models that used moonclips, but didn't sell well, and then made about 300 of these "regular" barreled ones, I guess to use up the titanium cylinders they had on hand. Shoots great. The other gun is a Colt SAA in .38-40, shoots the same bullets. :) If I wasn't so afraid to ship the Colt across the country, I'd have a .40 S&W cylinder made for it:
