I just loaded and shot H322.23 Gr, my COL. Is 2.260..my first try at it with the 65Gr.Now this is out of my bolt rifle, and I shot less then 1/2 Groups at 100 yards. For me, I see no reason to do any more looking.
Just to be sure, you are asking about the Sierra 65gr SBT GameKing bullet, right?
I have shot that bullet in a bolt action rifle and I charged 26.0gr Varget with good success. I prefer the Sierra 63gr bullet #1370. I use the same charge of Varget with that bullet.
I would start at 24.5 grains. That's been my go to load for 69 grain match kings for a long time. That's out of a 1-7 twist, ultra heavy 20 inch barrel.
They were out of that bullet when I ordered last time. I've been working on loads for the 55gr and it has been OK...but I want to try the 65 gr as well.
with a remmy sps tactical sierra #1395 65grn gk with 25 grn of varget did .351" wanted to test some more but at the same time out of same rifle using
sierra #1370 63 grn semi pt. with 26 grns of varget got .280"
both on bags at 100 yds. which was fine for my needs at that point so went back to playing with different cal 308 i was more interested in.... all the best, enjoy dirt
:banghead: I thought I was going to out shoot Bubba, my Father in law. Bubba only sights in and shoots deer. He had a stock Ruger M77 .270 and I had a built Savage 110 with a target barrel. Needless to say a loose mount turned my rifle into a 2+ inch gun and "Bubba" was nailing the ten ring.
