Does anyone have some personal info about the Sig 2022? Anybody own one? Give a brief description and your opinion on its performance in whatever caliber (9mm, .40, or .357) Here is a shot of one:

Have had one for a while. Haven't shot it a LOT, yet. Mine is in .357 SIG.

I also have a Bar-Sto 9mm barrel. The gunshoots great.

(My only problem, at the moment, is that with the 9mm barrel installed, it won't lock back after the last round. (I've tried using the lighter 9mm recoil spring; didn't help. My next choice is to find some 9mm mags -- even though the .357/40 mags work fine otherwise.) SIG says the 9mm and .357/40 version use the same slide stop, so that's not it.)

Its a quality gun. I like the trigger. (I've had other SIGs, but this is th eonly one, now.)

Where did you get the barsto barrel, everywhere I've looked they are gone. I am thinking of getting the exact same set-up but I used to have a 2009 so I have some 9mm mags.

The sigPro is a great gun, it has the best DA trigger of any gun I have had and points great. Very underated in my view. I actually got rid of my 226 because I like the Pro so much.

I do not have the SP2022, but do own its "predecessor", the SP2340, with both the 40S&W and 357Sig barrels.

Opinions? For a pistol with a 3.86" barrel, it is frighteningly accurate, at least at 25 yards shooting my handloads. The pistol, when new, printed about 3" low at that distance, but replacing the rear sight with the next taller one fixed that problem and brought the POI right up to the POA (but I did have to shell out $90 for a dedicated sight removal tool). Currently, it will group, at 25 yards, about 3" and 2.5" with my 40S&W and 357Sig handloads, respectively.

The factory recoil spring does a respectable job of dampening the felt recoil with my 40S&W handloads, but is somewhat inadequate for my 357Sig ones which are loaded a bit on the warm side (124 gr. FP projectile over 5.6 gr. of Universal at a COAL of 1.140"); recoil with the 357 Sig is very snappy and brass is thrown about 20' away. A stronger recoil spring would definitely be a welcome upgrade. Personally, for all my pistols, I like to use the strongest recoil spring that will still allow the slide to cycle reliably. However, I am not aware of any company currently making aftermarket recoil springs for the SigPro.

The SigPro is surprisingly easy to completely detail-strip (with one exception: the firing pin) for cleaning and maintenance work. The one-piece extractor can be removed with just a screwdriver, and the entire fire control module can be removed from the rear of the frame and completely disassembled. It is evident that a lot of thought went into engineering the SigPro to be easily maintainable.

Here is a "glamour" shot of my SP2340. You can see from the image that I replaced the standard trigger with the "short trigger" to reduce trigger reach (I have somewhat small hands). In addition, I replaced the hammer mainspring (part #33) with a lighter one from a CZ, lightly stoned the sear (#36) and replaced the sear spring (#37) with a lighter one I had in my parts bin. The net result of these modifications is the SA trigger now breaks very cleanly at around 3 lbs.

I do not think you will regret getting an SP2022.

Its a 9mm barrel for a 2340, obtained in trade from a forum member who no longer had the gun, but had the barrel.

It works well. (I think the barrels are the same, only the frames are slightly different.)

I owned a SIG 2022. In fact, it is my duty gun ( I am a french policeman ).
This gun is accurate, and I like the grip. Trigger pull is smooth, even if it is not light. A good "administrative trigger".

But there is 2 thing I don"t like :

- first, the magasine release : too much high, the button can be actionned when you're in a car ( for exemple ) if you're wearing your gun IWB ( I often had this problem).

-second, when the gun age, you must pull the triugger "right" ( read "in line"), or instead of going "Bang !", your gun will going "click" !! I myself witnessed several times this problem. The instructors said "We knows it. It is normal" !
I have difficulties to trust a gun which maybe won't shoot in a critical situation...

Dao, about how many rounds would you say you put in your 2022? I wanted to trade my Baby Eagle Polymer in 9mm with a '3.93 barrel for the Sig 2022. Would this be a good trade? everyones opinion is welcome, thanks.

DAO:

Interesting, I'll have to try to get my 2340 not to fire in that manner. I've had it for a while, but only put a couple hundred rounds through it. If you don't mind my asking, in what region are you a police officer? I have family in the Ardeche.

Ed:

The SigPros are great pistols, you basically get the awesome SIG trigger in a cheaper platform. As to trading your Baby Eagle, it's up to you (of course), but I'd only do it if the trigger on your Baby Eagle was worse than the SIG. Baby Eagles are great pistols, too, and I don't think you'd be getting more pistol in a SigPro. However, I know the feeling of "I need a new gun", so if it's time for the Baby Eagle to go, go for it. Objectively, I have high regard for the Baby Eagles so I probably wouldn't.

@ Ed Laver: my magasines are loaded with 15 shots, with no reliability problem.

@ John C : I'm working in Lyon.

2022Otto hehe

I bought a 9mm about a month ago and have put 500+ through it at the indoor range. Mostly Ball @ .14/round = easy on the wallet (local ammo supplier too) This Sig eats as well JHP's including +p+ 115 & 147. Sig 9mm is so fast to get back on target, got to love accurate magazine dumps!

Sure my 220 makes a bigger hole, but I am now using the 9mm for work!

Not one problem in the least, points, shoots, hits as well as any pistol owned or rented. Bought it new with three 15 round mags and night sights for under $500 and I am beyound impressed. So easy to strip and the stainless (coated) slide and maintenace free frame make this gun so servicable.

I've got it loaded with a TLR-2 on a Fubus OWB = my go to gun for downtown commercial property inspections.

Good buy and great gun!
