Had the Sig out last week and wow...I was hot. (See attached first mag target at 7 yards).

So when I was cleaning up the Smith (it didn't need it at all but I was doing it out of habit for a new-to-me gun) I compared the two: damn near twins.

The Sig is a mm longer, the Smith a mm higher, the Smith seems a wee bit heavier (it's all stainless) and the triggers are practically identical both in SA and DA in terms of weight, pull, and crispness. The Smith 4566 was apparently a LEO special order as it has a decocker only (no safety), bobbed hammer, and where there should have been a rail, there isn't one...so it's a big hit for me all round.

I hope to take both to the range tomorrow (Sunday) and we'll see how they shoot side-by-side.

Nice pair of non-1911 .45s!

I had a Browning BDA .45 (a.k.a. SIG P220), many years ago. That gun in single action mode and with fixed sights had no problem keeping up with a Colt Gold Cup I had at the time in terms of intrinsic accuracy. Hope your S&W 4566TSW shoots as well as your SIG P220!

I have owned examples of both and still own my 4566s. Including my former duty gun which is a non TSW with spurless hammer and decock only feature. It is one slick carry gun.

While the Sig 220 is accurate and the triggers on the ones I owned were fine, I shot the 4566 better and preferred itstrigger. I also got an unpleasant recoil pulse in the palm of my hand with all the 220s and the one 245 I owned. Never had that with a 3rd gen smith.

If you like the 4566TSW, you will love the Performance Center 45CQB. Absolutely the finest 4566 ever made. IF you can find one that is. ;) :)
