i buying a 9mm to have to the bedside/ccw since i already pick a 1911 "ria 1911 still waiting to the paperwork to pick what type to order

but i still need a ccw/grab and go sized gun

sig 225 9mm also called a p6 cost $350 very good shape, ffl , shipping and a spare mag

hi point c9 9mm $160 after spare mag a lot cheaper but a straight blow-back and hard to aim for the second shot due to heavy slide? and feels cheap but it is all in all one hell of a deal for the little money

both 8 shot mags and about the same size.

what would you pick and the reason why?

The Sig ... everything about it is better than the hi-point , its more reliable and will last longer . (and IMO looks better )

the hi-point is also a ok gun for the price but it does not compare to the sig quality .

call AIM. Drive down there. Its well worth your time.

Buy stripped Doublestar AR lower for $99.95 while you're there.

Thank me later.

I wouldn't call the Highpoint a worthless POS. I've never fired one, but the people i know who have, mostly say good things.

That being said, the Sig, is...well.... a Sig. I mean, you're comparing one of the most well respected firearms in the world, to the cheapest possible (while still functional) gun in production.

There aren't many blowback 9x19mms for a reason. It's a bad idea that requires a lot of unpleasant design compromises.

Go with the SIG.

While I agree the Sig is the better choice, I also consider the H&K P7 an excellent pistol - and it is a blowback design

Sig, all the way. I'm not one of the people who will automatically start crying "IT'S GARBAGE!!" when I hear the word Hi-Point, but I will say, the Sig is going to be the better deal. For one, it's a Sig. That's pretty much enough said right there. But also, like others have said, the blowback 9x19 design isn't the most inspired design, and Hi-Point pistols are known to have more issues than their carbines. I have a 995 carbine, and it's awesome. For well under $300, I got a super accurate little carbine. Yes, it's ugly as sin, but I love it anyway. :D

I think this may be the closest thing THR will ever see to a unanimous thread. The Sig P6 is probably one of the best deals in the country right now. Check the prices on any other new or used Sig and see what kind of deal that actually is.

I've got nothing against Hi-Point, and if you only have $150 and have to have a pistol, they're fine. But really, there's no comparison either on the pistols, or I believe, on the deal.

Aint that a fact!

Go with the Sig. Trust us. The P6 is the single best value on the market right now. I got mine for $285.

Sig hands down. It will last you a lifetime. The HiPoint will make an excellent paper weight. Maybe you could throw it at a bad guy's head......

I have nothing against Hi Points, but get the Sig. I've dealt with AIM surplus. In fact, that's where I bought my P6 for $300 out the door with taxes and fees. They're good people, just be ready to wait a while as they have phone customers to take care of.

The Sig will be MUCH easier to conceal as well. Again, I have nothing against Hi Point, but they're very big and heavy, nearly impossible to conceal.

I bought a P6 locally, for just under $300. Two mags, holster, German language Owners Manual, and a cleaning kit. Had my choice of a dozen to pick through. Holster wear on this one was evident, but the internals looked little used.

Accurate, and reliable. Best choice of the two. While the High Point will get you through a deadly encounter, the Sig is a better built weapon, especially for the dedicated pistolero.

are you serious a sig or a highpoint is that even a question if its a question then heres a bette rone would you rather have potted meat or prime cut fillet

seriously though i would go for the sig its all around a better gun

No, it's NOT a blowback. It's a DELAYED blowback using gas pressure. Compare the Hi Point and the H&K side by side. Notice how MUCH bigger and heavier the slide of the Hi Point is. There's a reason for that.

The Hi Point is a true blowback, just like a Ruger MkII or a Walther PPK. The ONLY things keeping the action closed while the bullet is still in the barrel and pressures dangerously high is the inertia provided by the weight of the massive slide, the resistance of the heavy recoil spring, and whatever friction there is between the cartridge case and the chamber.

The H&K is a delayed blowback which taps powder gases to push FORWARD against a fixed piston to keep the slide in battery until the bullet exits the barrel and pressures drop to safe levels.

There are other systems of delayed blowback, such as levers (Austrian Schwarzlose machinegun, French AA52 machinegun, French FAMAS assault rifle) and rollers (H&K 91/93), but they all do the same thing, namely delay the opening of the action through some sort of mechanical disadvantage until pressures are safe. Unlike an M1911 or an M16, the barrel and breach are NEVER positively locked together.

Blowback and delayed blowback are worlds apart. An HK91 is a DELAYED blockback. Take the delay mechanism out of the design and see what happens.

What?

Remember, our posts define us and they are here to stay.

I've owned both and there is no comparison. My Hj-Point C9 has been a reliable pistol, but is a cheap gun with everything that that implies. The P6 is a quality pistol that beats the Hi-Point every way possible except magazine capacity. Actually I don't have a P6 anymore, I let my girlfriend shoot it and she confiscated it in exchange for her Kahr CW9.

You've got to be kidding. A SIG P6/P225 for surplus prices versus a HiPoint?

I'm not for HiPoint bashing, but dude, get the world's most perfect SIG - the P225 is ergonomic, comfy, accurate, reliable, proven for every decade since the 70's, and just sleek as all get out, with a superior system (SIG decocker trumps that miniature thumb lever).
