Sig 227

I looked at one at a funshow a few months back. To me it felt just like the 226's and 229's that it was surrounded by.

I want one and no one locally can get one. It's next on my list to be sure. I ended up getting a Sig STX for the time being.

I handled one on Wednesday. Nice gun. Felt exactly the same as a 226. Wasn't a fan of the finish, but I prefer stainless guns. $1000. Double action trigger was fantastic smooth and crisp.

I may pick one up next year if they come out with a stainless version.

I agree with Ritepath. I feels almost identical to the P226 to me, which is amazing. The P226 is the pistol that "fits" me the best of any handgun I've ever touched. This past weekend, I fell in love with the P227. It's the only full-sized .45acp that feels comfortable in my hand. Before that, the XDMs led the pack (Perhaps the XD45, too, but I don't remember), but not enough for me to buy one. Now I realize that the P227 will be my next handgun! Amazing weapon. I would have bought it this weekend if I didn't go with a Colt M4 instead.

Purchased a 227 in Oct of this year in central Va., and have put approx 1200 rds through without any FTF. Very good dbl action trigger, single action crisp and sights easy to see (night sites very visible in dark) and only complaint is lack of holsters at the local level for this frame with rail. Do internet search for Sig P227 and you can locate in stock models for far less than retail even with shipping and local FFL fee. Also note that the Sig P250 mags will work with a small amount of fit work on the base plates and are far cheaper than the P227's if you can find them for extras.

I wonder what made sig come out with this in the first place - I mean, what was wrong with the much loved P220?

Haven't seen or handled one yet, but sure am looking forward to it. The 229 is one of my favorites with my only problem is the grip being a tad too large. But if the 227 is equivalent or better in that area I'll be getting one.

I was interested in checking them out until I saw that the standard mag only holds 10 rounds.

In that case, my p220 (and 1911's) holds 8, so I'm not going to get a new platform for 2 extra rounds. Now, flush fitting 15 (like the FN) would be something I'd look at more intently.

Also, if I could ever find a compact x-change kit in .45 for my P250 I'd be pleased, those things are rare as hen's teeth.

Think its comical that everybody is excited over 10 rds. Wasnt long ago that everybody was complaining about 10 rd mags. The fact that it took Sig over 30 yrs to come with more than 8 rds in a 45, and call it high capacity is a joke. They should have came up with an actual high capacity 45. At least 12 rounds in standard mags.

10 rounds don't mean much to me. But I do like decockers and my 1911 doesn't have a rail for a light. Decocker + rail + additional 2 rounds in something the size and weight of a 226/229 does appeal to me quite a bit.

My LGS had one in the pistol case last time I was in. $800 and change. I didn't handle it but it looks just like a P226 with a bigger hole in the front end. For a SIG fan it would make a dandy piece. I already have two ten shot 45s though. My next 45 will be a Super Redhawk.

It's not flush fitting with the 15 round magazines and that gun is HUGE!

Finally handled 2 at 2 different stores. One was a shop that caters to the EOTWAWKI crowd with all kinda of survival gear, MREs, typical 5.11 and Blackhawk! gear. It was $1050.

Went to my favorite LGS and it was $850.

Both were the standard nitron finish and fit the hand superbly. I love my 226 and this would be a nice addition.

I'd like to see how the 14rd mags fit. It it's like the 20rd 9mm mags on my 226 TacOps, I'm game.

Took mine out today for it's first outing. I purchased mine from Rockwell Arms out of Sandpoint, Idaho for just under $800. I installed the SRT trigger in it as well. I put about 100 rounds through it today with no FTF or other issues. Shot a mix of Winchester white box 230 gr fmj, and my 200 gr LSWC. Handles nice. The long DA pull takes some getting used to. I have medium sized hands and the grip is fine, just slightly larger than my P226.
