Finally got my fiancee back to the range between our schedules and the demands of life. She did an excellent job shoot .45 ACP at twenty feet with my Ruger P345, the guy at the rental counter had a priceless look on his face when I told her to show him and he had praise for her. It was her second time in her life shooting .45 ACP, the first time was only five rounds to get her over the fear of the gun jumping up and slapping her in the face from recoil. The trouble is, the .32 in your pocket is worht more than the .45 in your safe at home when trouble comes your way when you are out and about.

My fiancee is a 5'4" plump and short Irish girl. She can't use an IWB in my opinion nad I'm not happy with the idea of her carrying a gun in her purse with it being her only gun on her. So I want her to get into pocket carry. Here's the other problem though, she doesn't like revolvers or at the very least the grip on them. So she already had an affinity for the SIG 238 in Rainbow Blue Titanitum(at least she dislikes pink guns) and between it's concealability and potential for pocket carry I figure it's not the worst thing on earht.

The trouble I have with it is, for awhile folks were complaining of the 238 having all kinds of issues and SIG not having the best customer service about it. Was that overblown, or has SIG gotten right with their product quality control and follow up customer service. I'm hoping to hear from the SIG 238 owners if I could. Mayhaps also what ammo you are using with the pistol for SD and practice purposes. The aim is to get her her concealed weapons permit then after it has arrived to take her to the gun store so she can buy her very first gun(with my money naturally).

Based on past threads, the responses will polarize on this, depending how each individual gun treated its owner.

Mine is great; only one, single, lousy stovepipe out of a 3/4 full box of ancient ball ammo that I bought at a gunshow because it was 7 bucks. Every other round out of more than 600 has been flawless. At least half of those 600 plus rounds were Fiocchi with the xtp jhp. It's a fairly warm load, it feeds well, it *probably* penetrates better than many jhps, but less than ball (again, probably), and (most importantly) I can get it any day of the week at cabelas.

I even got through a level 3 handgun class with it, shooting against a field of Glocks and XDs. Thumbs up, for what it is (pocket heat).

JMO.

Mine was just a big aggravation. Not the least of which is the high price.
Even after multiple trips to SIG and all the updates the gun was still too unreliable to carry. IMO the cost of the 238 is just too high to take a chance on when there are good reliable guns like the Ruger LCP available at a much lower cost.
(I ended up with three trouble free LCP Rugers. :) )

Just got back from the range, there had to be at least 6 used 238's in the showcase. People are dropping those losers like a hot potato. Get the Ruger, a lot more reliable & a lot less money. Sig has really gone downhill in the last year or so, nothing like the Sig of old.
