Anyone own both and whats your take on the 239 in 9mm ? Better han the lc9 ? btw., I am very happy with my lc9...:D

asking price on the 239 is 550....

Hard to compare the two IMHO. My old man carries a P239 in .40S&W, it's a metal framed DA/SA gun that's larger and heavier (12 ounces heavier) than the LC9 just going off the specs from their respective websites. The LC9 is right on the border between pocket gun and belt gun and the P239 is definitely a belt gun.

It's a GREAT gun, but if you're used to carrying something as small and light as the LC9 you're gonna have to deal with a little extra size and weight. On the other hand, the 239 in 9mm (or even .40S&W) will probably easily outshoot your little LC9.

I guess I'll have to give that 239 a workout prior to making my mind up if I want to purchase.

I don't have both, but the 239 weighs a heck of a lot more than the LC9. For a point of reference my P239 shoots as well as the full sized P226. I don't notice any difference in recoil or accuracy. While the P239 is sleek and compact in size it weighs close to what most full sized pistols do, so that performance shouldn't surprise you. I think if you want a genuinely compact gun primarily for concealed carry the LC9 may be better for you, but if you will work around what is basically a full sized pistol it's hard to beat the P239 . . . .

I have had the P-239, and had a Kel-tec PF9 (very similar to the LC9). Did you mean to compare the P-238 to the LC9? -- That's a closer match.

When comparing the P-239 to the LC9, it's a difference of night and day, but guns that aren't really designed to do the same thing.

The P-239 will be much easier to shoot well, and you'll shoot it a lot more. The LC9 will be marginally unpleasant to shoot, and you certainly won't shoot it as much. You'll find a big difference in prices, too, even if you buy used.

The LC9 is almost a pocket gun (it can be with some trousers); the P239 is simply a compact single-stack 9mm (or .40) pistol that is smaller (shorter/thinner) than some guns. It'll be easier to conceal than many 9mms, but not nearly as concealable as the LC9.

If you want an all-round gun, the P239 is your pick. If you want a far-more concealable 9mm for concealed carry, the LC9 is probably your pick. Both can be carried concealed.

If you want a home defense gun, or one to plink with at the range, the LC9 is NOT the gun to get.

Had problems with the LC9, sold it after I got it back from Ruger. No problems with the .40
P239 which is dependable and accurate, but more weight than I like to carry all day. That said, my EDC for the last year has been a Kahr PM9.
