Sig Elite Performance .40 S&W 165 gr JHP

Locally I can pick up 50 round boxes of Sig Elite Performance .40 S&W 165 gr JHP in 50 Round White Boxes (No V-Crown Markings) E40SW1-50 for $19.99 a box (less if I buy a case). According to Sig Specs it's the 165 gr V-Crown JHP at 1090 fps.

Anybody have any info on this stuff? I'm assuming the White Box Stuff (as opposed to the multicolor) was intended for LE Sales although it's not marked as such.

Lucky Gunner Test was all I could find and the penetration was on the deeper side although all expanded out of a 3.4" barrel although it looked like they needed a little more velocity to be optimized. I would be using a 4" Barrel.

I found another gel test or two. It does expand in heavy clothing but does over penetrate. In 2-Layers of T-Shirt (Most important test to me) roughly 14" and 1.5x times caliber. I think it might be worth playing with a little so I'm going to buy some.

Have never used the Sig ammunition so cannot speak of it specifically, but I reload the .40 with 165 grain bullets only. I've found that for the .40 the 165 grain bullets provide optimum performance and put the .40 into its best arena and the 180 grainers are better suited to the 10mm.

I use longshot powder and can get my .40 cal loads to 1200 fps fairly easy, so for Sig's cartridges to give you 1050 fps. I'd say they are o.k., like a solid "B" on an algebra test.

The boxes look really nice though. An "A" for those.

Actually my boxes get a C because they are pretty much plain white boxes.with Sig Sauer Elite Performance and their logo on them.

I have to ask, are you using a handload listed in a loading guide? Also, do you verify your velocity with chrono?

My agency issued 155 grain ammo in a 4.7 inch BERETTA 96 and we barely reached 1200 fps with a lighter bullet.
