I am considering a Sig 229 Equinox/Elite and I love the wood grips that come on it, but they are a tad too thick for my hands. I also held a 226 and 250 wit facotry plastic grips and that was more comfortable than the wood grips.

I was wondering how the plastic standard grips compare to the Sig Aluminum grips and the wood grips? Which is the thickest to thinnest? Based on my quick research it seems that the thinnest are the Aluminum then the standard factory plastic, then the Wood grips are the thickest - can anyone confirm or deny this??

I put the calipers to all three at one point when someone asked that question on the SIG Forum. Unfortunately I did not write it down. The wood were certainly the thickest and the difference between the aluminum and the plastic is minor. The aluminum look sharp and feel better than the plastic but they are very expensive and if you live in a cold climate they get very, very cold in the winter.

My research once led me to believe that the hogue g10 grips were the thinnest.. same thickness as the aluminum version.

I believe they ran around like $130 tho?
