I really do well with the 3 dot sights and want to get them on my gun. I thought about doing myself, and then saw what a sight adjustment tool costs. OUCH :what: Sooo, plan "B". I see some adjustable replacement sights that would solve all my problems. Anyone put one of these on their pistols? Since they are adjustable, it seems to me i could just replace the rear sight, adjust, and bang away. Am i missing something??

In any case you have to remove the original sights and install the new ones. I know some people use a soft rod (made of brass or even hard wood) and a rubber hammer to do it. IMHO is alot simpler to let your local gumsmith to install them for you. With a good set of adjustable sights, like LPA for example, you can exploit all the accuracy of a P220.

I too prefer to let someone else with more experience do the work. However, it would still need to sighted in right?...

Generally, if your sights are centered in their dovetails, the pistol should shoot to point of aim.

Often, people will want to use adjustable sights to compensate for their poor shooting, which, of course, is the wrong way to go about it.

I don't think adjustable sights are a good investment on a SIG 220.

Every 220 I've owned (5) or shot (7) has been well sighted in right out of the box; plus .45 ACP slugs, of different weights and profiles, usually hit pretty close to each other anyway.

What kind of sights do you have on your gun now?

I have picked up some Tru Glow sights - there is a gun show in a week or two locally, in the past there has been a couple Sig smiths that should be able to put them on for me

If it's a set of fully adjustable sights, you only have to install them well centered in their slide cuts. Following settings of the rear sight (up-down, left-right) compete to you using a proper screwdriver at the range.
Merry Christmas.

that is EXACTLY what i was thinking. The sight cost is a lot less than a sight adjustment tool. I was wondering if anyone had anything negative to say about those sights before I bought some...

I don't really see the point of adjustable on a duty style handgun. You should be able to use it to its potential with fixed sights. I think I read somewhere or maybe heard that SIG "guarantees" their duty pistols to get 3" at 15 yards. If that's true, I get probably half that on a good day with the factory SIGLITES.

I'm super picky about things and it bugs me to no end when something isn't as it should be. I'd constantly wonder if they had been bumped out of alignment. I've not yet had a gun whose fixed sights were wrong.

i want to change the sights to a 2/3 dot and if I have someone do it, it wont be factory...
Have SIG do it.
