Sig P220 - Price Check

I'm considering selling my P220. It has had approximately 500 rounds fired thru it and is in like new condition. It has everything that came with it new. It has night sights and is the blued (don't remember what Sig calls it) finish. It does not have the rail found on newer P220's.

I need to know what a fair asking price would be. I've checked gun broker to get a feel and everything I see indicates a price around $450. That seems real low to me.

What do y'all think?

I have one almost identical to yours including the mileage, but w/o night sights. Unfortunately that is about the going price from what I can tell. There ahve been quite a few police trade-ins of late, and even though they show wear, probably still have a lot of use left in them. I believe that SIG is now going to start selling refurbed ones as well.

I use mine very little but will probably continue to hang on to it. A few extra .45s can't hurt anything.

Werewolf, I'd say that's about right for a good-condition SIG P220 right now. CDNN had some reconditioned police trade-ins at well under $400, without night sights; and SIG is selling factory-reconditioned P220's, which dealers are retailing in the high 400's to low 500's. Your night sights may let you bump the price up to about $475, but I don't think that knowledgeable buyers will go higher than that. (Of course, you might get lucky and find a buyer who isn't knowledgeable... )

I just paid $630 for a new one with the rail, but reg sites. I think 500 is good for one in exc condition.

I just saw one that looked like "mint" at a local pawn shop the other day. It was around 450 and looked as if had not even been fired.

I bought my old style P220 new for like 575 a couple years back. I imagine that anything less than 500 for exe or better condition used with night sights is alright. The new ones really seem to kill you nowadays. They are all the way up in USP range for price where I normally shop.

Why on earth would you want to sell it. The 220 provides world class accuracy and reliability in it's price class. I suggest you rethink it because you just might regret it later. I own several .45s and the 220 would be one of the last to go. If it doesn't fit your hand or you have other issues with it that is different.

Well - ever just get bored with a gun. The Sig has lost its appeal. Once a gun loses its appeal for me then it's history.

So far that has only happened for me with a Glock 22. That loss of interest in the Glock happened after I acquired a CZ-75 and then another CZ-75 and I finally figured out the reason I couldn't shoot the Glock worth a darn was because of the crappy triggers they come with.

The Sig? Well - I got it before I acquired my CZ's. Everytime I go out to the range and with my CZ's I consistantly shoot out the centers of 2" squares at 15 yards and can barely maintain minute of pie plate with a gun that cost almost twice as much - I just get - uhhhh - bothered.

I figured I could trade it for a good 1911 platform or at least sell it and get some of my money back.

Unfortunately all I can get in trade is $400 (and that's just cuz the dealer likes me) and I'm finding out even a face to face sale will only garner between $450 and $500 (and that only if I can find some sucker to pay it and my personal standards won't let me do that).

SIG is flooding the market with their refurbs so the going rate for used P220's is depressed (for example at one gun shop I go to the price has dropped from $500 to $550 six months ago to $450 now).

I'll probably hold on to it for a while because I'm not willing to let go of a 7 month old less than 500 round $700 gun for less than $500. That may not be logical but it's the way I feel.
