Sig P220 vs P229 in 22lr (or CZ, Beretta, Kimber)

What is the general opinion on the Sig p220 and p229 in 22lr? Is one better than the other? Are they reliable and accurate? How do they stack up against other "higher end" 22lrs like the CZ kadet, Beretta 87, or Kimber 1911?

I would a good quality 22lr for plinking, but I am willing to spend $500-$800 to get one that will last my lifetime. My main consideration would be feeding all types of ammo and to be pretty accurate.

I should mention I already have a Ruger MKIII. I know that will get brought up. I love it just want to add something different to the stable (also have S&W 617 so revolver is covered)

I have a SIG .22 LR conversion kit on one of my P226s and I think it is terrific for what I use it for. I also have a Ruger Mark1,

My SIG P226 with the .22 LR conversion kit is totally reliable so far with CCI Mini Mags and almost as relaible with Federal Bulk 550 pack from Walmart though there have been some failure to fires.

I have not done extensive comparisons between the two but I am betting my Ruger Mark1 is more accurate though for me my SIG P226 with the .22 LR conversion kit is accurate enough. I consider my SIG P226 with the .22 LR conversion kit more of a terrific training pistol for those that like SIGs than a higher end .22 pistol.

The beauty of buying a SIG P229 .22 LR is that you can get 9MM, .40, and 357 SIG conversion kits. So for around $260 your SIG P229 .22 LR becomes say a SIG 9MM P229.
