So, I'm looking pretty seriously at one of these that is gently/barely used. It appears as new. Asking price is $600 which seems like a great deal. Does anybody have experience with this model? and how did you like it?

I'm already looking at the Hogue g10 grips and a COM holster for it.

And I have a big jug of 9mm cases just waiting for me to actually get a 9mm pistol.

I like this one too.........

but it's not $600. Who knows, If I like the Sig combat, it might need a friend.

I'm currently using a P226 and got my G10 grips 2 months ago.

The P226 is a very nice pistol and $600 is a good price. If I could find a P229 for that price I'd be all over it like a politician on a campaign donation.

The G10's (I have the checkered version) are very thin and very grippy. They are thinner than the OEM plastic grips. When combined with the optional short trigger they will let the P266 fit a smaller hand/shorter finger reach. If you have big hands the Hogue rubber grips are the way to go.

I think $600 is on the high side for a used P226. That's up to you.
I have a P226 .357 Sig with Hogue Exteme Aluminum grips.

For the price you might consider a CZ-05 (4th generation of the CZ-99). These guns should not be confused with the manufacturer of the CZ-75. This particular pistol is made in Serbia and is imported by EAA as the EZ-9.

The EZ-9 is cosmetically nearly identical to the Sig P226, however the internals and guts of this pistol is supposedly very nearly Walther P-88. The P-88 was one of the finest autoloaders (and one of the most expensive) ever made.

These guns can be had brand new for around $300. Most people give them fantastic reviews. This pistol is the standard carry and service arm of the Serbian military, and is reputedly in official use with over 20 LE agencies in the United States.

Don't get me wrong, the Sig is a fine weapon!! Just thought I might mention this eastern european pistol as a possible less costly alternative.

You can't go wrong with the P226 - I have two myself and am looking to get another - probably with a stainless steel frame, maybe the X-FIVE Allround. One of the finest if not finest combat pistols ever made and used by elite agencies such as the SEALs.

For the Combat P226 in like new condition I would say $600 is a great price seeing they are over $900 new street price.

The problem I'm finding with the combat model is that the rail is squared rather then rounded on the edges and holsters for the 226r won't fit.

Actually, I'm thinking about a CZ75 too. It's a hard decision.

Cheapest I'm seeing is right at $600.

Link to a $350 P226 in 9mmP and I'll buy it today.

As far as price goes, we're not really comparing apples to apples here. Those may have heavy holster wear. The one I'm looking at has several upgrades and is as new.

I'll go see it again on Monday AFTER I get my new glasses, just to make sure.

You can find used 226 trade-ins for 350

I'd be interested in a direct link as well. The cheapest I've seen 226s is at Wideners for $475.

OP: I'd say that $600 for a 226 Combat is a decent deal, but not really great. I'd try to hold out for a bit better price if I were you. Maybe look for $550 or even $500 if you can manage to negotiate it that low.

Were you ever able to find a holster for the P226 Combat? I am looking for a holster for a P226 MK25 which also has the picatinny rail and finding a holster for it is nearly impossible.

i shot my nephew's P226. it shot well, but it is a DA/SA trigger, and because of that, i like my XD 40, SAO, along with the grip safety and their so called Ultra Safety Trigger, which requires the first stage of the trigger to be squeezed before you can make it go bang.

hey, the SEALS use the P226, right? so what can you say? to each his own.

I would also be interested in a Sig 226 for $350, Google hasn't produced any in that price range.

If I found a Sig 226 Combat in good condition for $600, I would get it. That's me though.

Guys, he was asking about a used p226 Combat, not a regular p226 police trade in, or even CPO.

A Sig p226 Combat in lightly used / excellent condition for $600 is reasonaly good deal. That configuration is not my cup of tea, personally, but the price sounds OK otherwise. OTOH, a Sig p220 CPO (standard config) generally runs between $500-$600, when available.

Or, pick up a well used one for $475 + shipping + transfer + refinish slide + new night sights ... wait, that just went above $600 didn't it?

The Hogue G10 grips are nice. I think they are called the Piranhas. They are supposedly the same grips that are on the Sig 226 Scorpion. I wouldn't mind having a set for my 226.

VZ grips also has a set called Krakens. I haven't gotten a chance to try any out, but I dont think they look as good as the Hogues.
