I've had a few questions about the hard chrome job on my P226 from Tripp Research, so I've included more pictures. I hadn't really stared at the internals until today, but wow - it looks awesome (and I'm sorry for how big this thread is).

It is my understanding that Tripp has stopped their refinishing business permanently .

They are no longer accepting pistols. :(

Yours looks nice.

DarthBauer ~ The work was done by Tripp Research, based in Alpine, Texas.

rellascout ~ According to Tripp Research's website, they are accepting pistols up to June 13th but no more after that date. I can imagine their amount of work they have now as everyone tries to get them in before the cutoff, so I hope this hasn't changed and you can still get a pistol into them. A member on a 1911 forum sent in a Kimber last Friday, so call them - I think they may still be accepting work but hurry!

CountGlockula ~ It is a flat matte chrome job. I have a P229 slide I had done and left the controls on the frame black. On the P226, I sent the whole pistol in and got it redone, including the controls and internals. I'm not a fan of the shiny 'bumper chrome' finishes.

That looks really nice. I've got a USP all blued. I wonder how it would look. I wish I had gotten it two toned.

Thanks for the kind words. I was a bit hesitant to do the controls on the P226 but the more I look at it, the better I like it. I also got a P229 slide done and that's my daily carry.

So tempting for me to send in my P7 now! But alas, I must curb the temptation and love what I have. Virgil Tripp truly is the best in the business if you ask me!

What did it run you, if you don't mind me asking?

Edit: Never mind, prices are in the link.

Total was $420 for the entire P226 pistol to be redone, the P229 slide to be refinished, night sight installation ($25), sales tax, and the ever so fun to pay priority overnight shipping fee that UPS charges since there really is no other option for shipping. :cuss:

The work is flawless and Tripp Research was awesome on the phone to deal with. Answered every question I had and their turn around time was spot on. I got it back exactly 4 weeks and 2 days after I sent it out, which is right what I was quoted when I called for information.
