Hello,

I've fully disassembled and reassembled my Sig P238, and I just want to make sure I've done it correct. I don't remember how this worked before. The quarter-cock is UNAFFECTED by the SAFETY, correct? Even with the safety engaged, the gun can be quarter-cocked and subsequently "fired", is this correct? The quarter-cock will still be released when the trigger is pulled, regardless of whether the gun is on safe, correct? I just can't remember for sure what the situation was before and I want to make sure I put it back together correctly. Thank you.

the gun can be quarter-cocked and subsequently "fired",
If it works the way I think it works?
Maybe "clicked" would be a better word.

It will not "fire" from the intercept bump.

All it is there for is to slow the hammer down so it won't fire in the event your thumb slips while cocking it.

It should really not be used for anything else.

You should be able to apply the safety with the hammer cocked, or all the way down against the slide.

But not with the hammer resting on the intercept bump.

Hmm... I am able to apply the safety with the hammer at the intercept.

Also able to quartercock the gun with the safety engaged. Any ideas?

I just checked mine, which has never been disassembled. It can be "quarter" cocked with the safety on, so I have to believe it's normal.
The hammer can be drawn back slightly farther than the quartercock notch, but that's all.

Tommy, starting with the safety off, are you able to apply the safety while the hammer is quarter-cocked?

Yes, the safety can be applied when my gun is at 1/4 cock.
Pulling the trigger releases the hammer from this position irregardless of the safety position. I have been informed that the hammer falling from this point will not strike a primer hard enough to fire a round, but I have not tested it, nor do I recommend trying it, unless you are in a position to safely fire a round into a backstop.
