Sig P365: Break-In Report

The only thing I disliked on the P365 I rented was the magazine release. I shoot right handed and the button is so well protected that I can't drop the magazine by pressing it with my right thumb. All I'm doing is pushing on the frame. (This isn't a problem with my Gold Cup or M&P 9.) Sig should extend the button. If they don't, it's an opportunity for the aftermarket.

My hand is small enough that the 10-round magazine with the extended floor plate has enough room for three fingers. Someone with larger hands would need the 12-round magazine or use the flush, 10-round magazine and make do with two fingers.

While I agree it is tougher than some pistols to drop the mag on the P-365 with the mag release like it is, it isn't too difficult, at least for my hands, and I like it that way. It seems they "errored on the side of" not accidentally dropping the mag vs making it super easy to do a mag change. I am not overly concerned about the chance of needing to make a lightning quick mag change with it.

Perhaps someone will make an extended version.

This is EXACTLY how I think about this as well, Walkalong. Especially this: "am not overly concerned about the chance of needing to make a lightning quick mag change with it."

UPDATE

Went to the range and put 200 rounds of XM9001 JHP through the pistol along with my little sister who was a G42 Shooter....

No malfunctions.

Did you note the "was a G42 Shooter", well it appears my P365, 500 rounds of WWB 124 Nato and 300 rounds of XM9001 have now disappeared.... Any one want a deal on a Tiffany Blue G42?

Haha. I don't think I'll let the wife shoot mine for that same reason. She's perfectly happy with the P229 in .40 Cal, so I don't want to spoil a good thing.

I ran another 100 rounds through my P-365 today. Shooting at a water bottle on the 45 yard berm, both one handed and two handed (No reading glasses to help see the sights). Bounced it around a lot, hit it a few times, no malfunctions. Man I love that gun. My 1911s are jealous of my range time with it.

Well it's not a 1911 but it also don't thump like my 28 oz CDP II Compact .45 either. After 150 rounds of 230 Hardball my wrist starts complaining. After 200 rounds of 115 FMJ in the P365 I feel like I'm about to get warmed up.

I've really only got two striker fire pistols that have impressed me. The M&P .40 M2.0 Compact and the P365. They both are at the perfect intersection of size, power and capacity and shoot really well. I still shoot the 1911 platform better but they bring other things to the table.

M&P .40 when I can carry it, P365 when I can't and the LCP in my back pocket for whenever I can't carry.

I had the same experience a couple of days ago with mine. Metal plates we're going down on every shot at 25 yards and I was shooting more rapidly than normal, having a great time. I got bored with that and like you, started shooting a small stick on the berm just to see how close I could get to it. The stick was jumping around like it was alive. I think I hit it five times in a row. I'm laughing and looking at the gun like I can't believe it.
I believe the ergonomics of how the gun fits my hand and the long slide, for a small pistol, has a lot to do with the accuracy. The trigger is quite good, once broken in, for a striker fired anyway.

Hehe... It will be hard to part with my beloved P938. We have been together pretty much every day for 4-5 years. Every day! I love her, but I hear the siren calls of the P365, and they are hard to resist!
You could keep it as a backup! I was shooting my Legion yesterday and I realized as long as it holds up, I'm keeping that one regardless of possibly buying a P365. Look forward to your impressions when you get one.

I most certainly will keep it I am sure. It has been such an amazing companion, it would be hard to part with!

I have sort of been waiting for the P365 with the safety, and now that it is shipping, it is going to be hard to not buy one!
