I also had the opportunity to handle the Max 9. The grip on paper is 3/8" shorter. Overall a little slimmer. The important thing to me was the girth of the grip... gave me something substantial to grab on to. That's where the P365 came up short, for me anyway. The Max 9 might make a nice little pocket carry gun.

The whole point of getting a p365 is to get a quality SMALL handgun that you will actually become comfortable carrying every day.

There is no reason on God's green earth why anyone should get the XL version that I can think of unless you want to spend money for nothing when there are so many other better options out there

That said the P 365 is a nice little package if you can get it to shoot right which may take you a couple hundred rounds

At that point why are you thinking about two rounds?
Go ahead and get a Springfield XDM elite with 20 round mag it's not that much bigger than the XL and it's much much much better

The XL has a MUCH better balance...which is why I took the 1/2" penalty. When I bought mine the 365X didn't exist & I also wanted the optic plate. Interestingly, with a Romeo Zero...it is actually lighter than with plate & sights. Love this pistol, no regrets. Each to their own...
