Hello,
I know there are a few Sig owners here, and I have a few questions regarding issues with mine.
Background: A week ago purchased a Sig P229R 40cal and cleaned/lubed it as per the owner’s manual specifications before taking it to the range. After putting 150rds of blazer brass through it, it started showing signs of abnormal wear. As you can see in the below pic, the anodizing has been scraped off and the aluminum on the frame rail is being gouged away. As I run my thumbnail across the wear spot on the frame, it sticks to it, which indicates that there may be a burr on the slide. Sig Sauer customer support suggested that I RMA it, which I already have.
My questions are:
• Has anyone else had issues like this with Sig products? Is this a commo occurrence?
• How is Sig’s customer service in your case? Any issues there?
• How do you think they will repair it? Will they replace the frame, or will they just smooth out the burrs and re-anodize?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
