Sig-Sauer P6, why replace springs

So I just got a P6. It shoots just fine. People complain about the DA trigger, but mine was nice and smooth and didn't seem all that heavy. Haven't tried hollowpoints yet. Given that I am comfortable with the trigger and the functioning of the gun the way it is, is there some other reason that the mainspring and maybe other springs should be replaced?

Spring replacement on a used older gun that you don't know the history of (e.g., how many rounds were fired) is just preventive maintenance, and springs are cheap. I have no experience with the P225, but I've had trigger bar springs break on two other SIG pistols. This will disable the gun if it happens.

These pistols worked just fine for the German Police.

I like mine a lot (it has become my daily carry pistol) just as it came.

Two compelling, concise, and opposing replies. Thank you. I'll get the springs, but won't worry a whole lot about it in the meantime. How much do I like it? The gun it will replace is a 3" S&W 65.

The ones I bought had obviously been recently arsenal rebuilt. If you look it over you can see signs the roll pins were pushed out of the breechblock and slide- in which case it had a rebuild at one time. One had a nearly new set of grips (according to the date molded into the back of the plastic).

The German PD were not really into shooting- so IMHO the springs in these pistols are good for a long time to come. It's not like they've been used much.

Some people are not comfortable with a firm trigger pull and want the softer mainspring. IMHO, a revolver DA pull is no different, and it's nowhere as bad as the S&W Sigma. I like mine as they are.

I recently replaced the mainspring on my P6. Now, I can’t tell the trigger pull apart from that of my P225, but the difference was only slight to begin with. I imagine that it will also wear in a bit.
