New 590 ghost rings can I sight this in for 00 buckshot and still hit the same distance with a slugger slug? Slugs would be rarely used. Say 25 yards or under with buck shot 00 where would that put me with slugs 6 inches high? What if I zeroed the slugs at 50 what would that do to my short range buckshot pattern? Another question anyone know on these factory mossberg sights what each click of adjustment is? Is it the typical 1/4 at 100yards like a rifle?

Sight it in perfectly with slugs at 40 or 50 yards.
It will be dead on with buckshot as far as it's effective with buckshot.

I can't help you with the click value.
Even the Mossberg Owners Manual seems unsure of that!

You just have to play with adjustments off sandbag or bench. Thank God for 1300fps tactical slugs from: Fiocchi, Federal, Brenneke. It would truly suck to have to endure punishment from typical 1600fps:barf: hunting stuff.

Nothing much.
Just slightly reduced exact zero at longer range.

The buckshot will still shoot where the slugs you sighted in with hit.

Getting ready for a class with a 500GR I wanted to know about how the rear sight worked and the value of the adjustments. Nothing of value being available in the owners guide I called Mossberg.

The response I got from a bored lady was "Are you hitting with it now? Then why mess with it?"

Sight it in for slugs at whatever distance you like. Buckshot is only reliably effective at short range, so any difference between the slug and buckshot zero will be insignificant.

Can't help you on the clicks, try it and let us know.

A good starting point in the search for a converging point of impact, would be selecting Slug and Buckshot loads with the same or nearly the same payload weight and velocity. For example, Federal 8 pellet Flite-Control rounds and low recoil 1ounce slugs such as Winchester LE rounds. The former is a tight patterning 1 ounce load at a nominal 1145 fps and the latter pushes a 1 ounce slug @ 1200 fps.
