Hi every one! I just got this week a Sigma 40S&WVE,14 rnds one in the hole, Copy of the GLOCK, I Love it, Got a bud with me at the range we put 500 RDs no hick ups, very acurate, rides well in my holster that I had for my Glock 27. By the way its the second one I have, the triger pull and mechanism was a lot smoother than the first one and the grip seems more robust, handles great! I am wondering though:confused: Why so many people out there do not like this pistol?:scrutiny:

Glad to here that your Sigma is performing well. I have been considering one for a while as a fairly inexpensive way to add a .40s&w to my stable. I think most of the negative views of these pistols comes from the problems the older ones had and the heavy trigger.

Good to know that some of them work well. I have a Sigma 40VE as well. Back at S&W again because every five or six rounds it fails to eject. As a side not, how can anyone like that trigger???

Interesting you post this - I got to fire this gun this weekend @ the range. I was impressed with the 14+1 .40S&W capacity in a smaller grip than my S&W 659 9mm which is also 14+1! Seemed like a good gun and had no issues for the couple of mags I got to shoot out of it. It actually felt a lot better than my .40cal beretta 96 to me.

I have three of the Sigma SW40 's, I think they are just fine. Trigger is a bit
scratchy and stiff at first but it wears in to become fairly smooth although they will likely always be a heavy pull. It will never ever be a fancy weapon but it is well made, reliable and accurate enough for it's intended purpose. A lot of the complaints are from people who are gun snobs. Others are from people that expected a tack driver from a combat weapon. S&W had a few minor issues with QC on the Sigmas but many manufacturers have had the same problem. All in all they are very good for the money.

I have been to the Glock armourer's course but don't own a Glock.
I chose the Sigma 40VE too. I also have a Sig-Sauer P220, a Beretta 92 Brigadier and other S&W's & Rugers & a Dan Wesson. I love the Sigma and trust it as much as the others. I like Glocks ok, but they point slightly into the sky for me. The Sigma is better ergonomically and mine fires and fires. Plus it has a fully supported chamber and cost was $289 new with lifetime warranty.

I have a buddy that has a Sigma 40VE and it is a very good pistol. I also know a retired police officer that carried a Sigma instead of the Glock that most of the other officers with the same PD carried. He owns a gun shop and is a smith. He said that he prefered the S&W over the Glock.

I ran across an ad in a local trade magazine a month or so ago that offered 80 dollars of the msrp which made the price 329 dollars I think. I went with a friend from work and we both bought the 40sve. The dealer also gave us a mail in rebate for 30 dollars or two 14rd mags. We both took the mags which I was told were about 40 dollars each. I saw an episode of shooting USA I think and Jim Scouten said the reason for the heavy trigger pull was because Smith&Wesson intended the pistol to be a transitional gun for police officers going from revolvers to semi-autos but don't know if thats true. I am real happy with it especially for the price.

I just picked mine up today too, I love it. Internals look a little different than a Glock does, but still wonderfully simple. Grip is unbeatable, so is the price. The trigger on mine is noticeably stiff, but not really nearly as bad as people make it out to be, I'm glad I bought it.

Sigma

I just came from the range, Another great riport, No jams 150 rnds. Its a keeper, by the way, I did not clean it since the first setion, i will see how long it will take to drag:):)

The Stigmas, I mean the Sigmas are a good self defense pistol and one can't beat the current price. For the most part they are very reliable, sturdy pistols that will give years of service. They do have a lousy trigger, and are not know to be tack drivers but what they are intended for they are more than enough. The new M&P will slowly replace the Sigma in Smith's product line, though the jury is still out if it will be a vastly better product.

Plus it has a fully supported chamber

Hmm...Is it fully supported? I know it's more supported than the Glocks, but it looks like there's still a bit of a spot where the case buldges. Thats the main reason I went to the M&P, which is vastly better, IMO. I compared the two and the difference in the feed-ramp is obvious, not to mention the M&P doesn't buldge the case. I think it looks more appealing, as I've never been a blocky-gun fan. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the Sigma is bad. After getting used to that trigger, there's no DA trigger I can't pull. I've considered it for conceal carry when I get my license. And the price is better than anything, at a little more than half the price of a Glock, after rebates. I do think the grip should have been textured a bit better, maybe similar to the M&P. I found it to be too slipery at times.

Why so many people out there do not like this pistol?

I stopped at a local shop a few weeks ago to pick up some reloading components. Waiting for the reloading guru, I was browsing (drooling), and saw a nice Sigma in the used cabinet. The sales rep said the newer versions of the Sigma (marked VE) are pretty good as an entry-level weapon. Older versions (sans VE) had serious QC problems...cracking slides, trigger failures, so on. So, that apparantly is why they had a negative rep. In fact, this gentleman's comment was (in his opinion) S&W should have come up with a new name for the redesigned Sigma, because it's moniker carried such a...well...Sigma stigma. They kept it as the Sigma - perhaps because they had the name already registered and with the new M&P in the works, they weren't so worried about it. Just a guess...

FWIW, many of our local precinct constables carry the Sigma.

I was looking for a handgun for the wife because I got tired of her hogging my xd-45acp when we went to the range:fire:. I seen the sigma on sale at my local gun shop for 299 wit 2 free mags:D. I had a hard time deciding the caliber but since its for her I went with the 9mm. I'm sure she''ll be happy my wallet was.;);)
